Dr. Poulsen spent until after midnight cleaning and sewing it up so he was a-ble to go to school the next day. Ivan and Nelda Willlis and daughter Garna went to Panguitch for medical checkups. Ivan visited around town awaitiing his turn, talking to different fellows who were ailing and decided he was so healthy he did not need checking. The deer hunt is over so man and beast can relax, if there are any beasts left, there were quite a number who did not get theirs. Has anyone seen a turtle wandering around? If you meet one he belongs to Ray Fynan, she put them away for the winter and is out one. After meeting the Primary Pilot and Co-pilot classes of the Southward hold their parent demonstration program under direction 'of teachers Larue Spencer and Betty P. Alvey. Our election started out to be rather 'drab and uninteresting as thejre was only one ticket with the names of the town board members up for re-election. Then the citizens in the northeast Wrner of town had their right to vote challenged which caused considerable consternation! Marjie Spencer is teaching the 9th grade Civics class and part of their assignment was to study the town laws and conditions. In making this study they found that these people were not in the city limits so were not paying city taxes. There had been a survey made and a new map but it had never been recorded in the County court house so was not legal. Marjie was being called bad names so Neta Shirts volunteered to consult the Attorney General, Pratt Kessler. Mr. Kessler told Neta that Mar- jie was absolutely right, that -people living outside city Units and not sharing the city expenses had no right to vote in the city election. If we had more citizens who dared to stand up for what is right we would have a more progressive community to live in. Congratulations Marjie. Had a letter from Mary R. There are miserable souls in every town whose hearts are filled with hate, their minds are so warped and narrow they can't tell a story straight. |
