Show Escalante Chit Chat - FAY ALVEY We have had some record cold nights, promising looking clouds but still no moisture. It beats all how the Northern part of the State Is water logged and In this area the cows can't even get a drink'. The three kids diseases are still going strong and some adults are having them along with the small fry. Alan Pollock was taken to Pangultch for treatment. The small son of Alice Ann Pollock cut his finger off and was lucky in it being the day Dr. Kazan was here so he sewed it back on. It is handy to have a doctor here, some folks can get their symptoms to him while they are fresh, they are some times stale and dragged out by the time we get them to Pangultch. The clean up campaign is still going on, some going faster than others. The old Cottam home on Main Street sticks out like a sore thumb; Claron Griffin bought It and tore down fences and out buildings, pushed over trees and leveled the lot. Wilford and Koleen Griffin took son David to Salt Lake for a checkup, he Is coming a-long fine and they told him to come back in two weeks to have the cast removed. Barton Deuel went north looking for work and while there attended the birthday party for his mother, Hulda Spencer, held at the home of her son Kay in Tooele: out of her 29 descend-ents snc had 21 present. Hul da came home with Barton to visit until after the 17th celebration which will be held the 20th. Jean Mclnelly and two sons came from Monroe to visit her parents, Dee and Elda Haws. Clorene Vadrene went to Cedar City on Forest businesss. Malt and Nelda Spencer have a new grandson born to Lael and Sharee In Salt Lake City. Martha Davis is home after spending three months in the northern part of the state with her three daughters, "she enjoyed her visit but is always glad to come home. Missed last week the shower held for Lana Livingston in the home of her parents, the John Normans. Those we heard of having quiltings last week were Clarice Griffin, Ze-la Alvey, Flora Loibenguth, and Elda Haws. Billle and Minnie Davis had their family home for the weekend: Hoi-bert and Bonnie Smith and son of Cedar City and the Al Fosters and family of Tropic. Quite a large percent of the population went over for the basketball tournament. - We were all thrilled when South Sevier placed, as our home town boy Vernon Dean Roun-dy is their coach. The Theo Barkers had Paul and Gayla Cardon and family of Mantl. Ivan and Nelda Willis and Deon Alvey went to (continued inside) ESCALANTE (continued) Panguitch for medical checkups. Marlenc Haws and her mother, Faun Mecham, went to Cedar City. Dot Coombs of Boulder spent the day with her parents, the Slim Alveys. Darrell Alvey and Melba Gates went to Salina on income tax business. Dee Haws went to Panguitch on County business. Home Ec teacher, Marjie Spencer, took a car load of FHA girls to Salt Lake City for their annual convention; Linda Alvey run for State Secretary but did not make the grade. Linda's friends gave her a surprise birthday party when she returned Sunday-John and Lola Zenz had visitors from Bend, Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kerns who are also rock minded. Bernard and Ora Schow made a business trip to Cedar City, Lola Zenz accompanied them. Doyle Cottam and a friend went into Arizona to work for the, Men-denhall Construction company. Reva Bailey made a business trip to Richfield. Gerald Thompson came from Provo, visited several days at the Vergene Porter home, then went to Las Vegas seeking employment, Lynn Liston accompanied him. Everyone is living on the hope that things will open up and jobs be available. Spring has promised to come, that is sufficient for some; why don't she hurry . and stop all our worry, she's taking the long way by gum.;, i. |
