Show Escalante Maps All-Out town Clean up Campaign Entire Community Called To Arms - Rakes And Brooms At a meeting Wednesday evening the Escalante Improvement Committee assigned its member organizations to specified districts to take the lead in organizing residents of their district in a clean-up campaign that will culminate Saturday, March 13. The improvement program will continue after that date and will include further removal of old and useless build-ings and fences. It will also in- elude repair and paint jobs. Merchants Claron Griffin and Lorell Munson will offer reduced prices on outside paint, likely for a period of a month beginning In April. Absentee property owners have been asked to cooperate and given until April 1 to comply. Assignment of districts: District 1. Main street and First South with Intervening north-south streets The Lions Club, Hal Shlrtz in charge. District 2. South Second and north-south streets back to First South Elders Quorum. District 3. Third South and intervening north-south streets back to Second South North and South Ward Bishoprics. District 4. First North and north-south streets from Main Street to Second North The Riding Club and Auxiliary. District 5. Second North and all partial streets northward The Chamber of Commerce. Other groups that are members of the Improvement Committee include The Friendship Club, The Better Homes and Gardens Club, The Relief So-cities of both wards, The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, The Teen Club, the High and the Elementary Schools. These groups are asked to participate in the campaign either In their respective organizations or as individuals. Harold Lindsay, County Extension Agent, was present at Wednesday's meeting where he gave valuable suggestions and showed moving pictures of a clean-up day in a neighboring town, with some reveal-ing before and after shots. |
