Mr. and Mrs. Vic Cottam made a trip to Cedar City where Euzell had a medical checkup, their daughter Diana Alvey of Tropic accompanied them. Vic got layed off the Dam, so did Loyd Alvey. Matt and Hazel Houston and small daughter of Panguitch were visitors here at the Allen Worthen home. Stan and Neta Haycock and Clarice Griffin made a business trip to Panguitch. Ivan and Nelda Willis havo a new grandson they can hardly wait to see, he belongs to Ellwood and Vonda of Kearns, they also got word that their son Blaine has been transferred again to a place as hard to spell as the other one. Elder Kay Gates wrote and told Ills parents Jim and Er-ma that he has been made Senior companion way down In Kentucky. S. J. Alvey swears (and that is the correct dis-cription) that someone has a grudge against the Alvey horses, and he can name them too. Martha Davis Is back home, her three girls from North brought her back after spending the cold weather with them, she looks good. La Vern Griffin moved Mary and Jolyn back here as he was being transferred from Parker, Arizona and ,had to camp, El-den has been here all winter with Grandpa Ernie. Dee and Elda Haws took a vacation before the spring rush; they took Joanna Barker to St. George where she will live with Polly Spencer awhile, then they went to Arizona to visit Doug and Jeanie Mclnelly, then on to Texas to visit son Don and family. Some more of our citizens went to Texas-Tecently but we could not find out much about It; Frank and Catherine Coleman, James and Millie Mclnelly, Lincoln Lyman and Ches-Lay helped the Seismograph move out. Thurman Spencer has announced that he's planning to run for County Commissioner. On Feb. 20, the High School girls are planning a Fashion Show, displaying spring and summer fabrics made from special patterns. All women folk high school age and over are Invited. Ag teacher Larry Coombs took the Seniors to Panguitch for Career Day. The Valley Finance officials held a meeting here Sunday and had dinner at the Billle Davis home; the Don Swapps of Kanab, McKinel Morrel oi Junction, Blake Robinson, and the Al Fosters of Tropic. Aft er dinner Machell Foster cele-brated her 5th birthday anniversary with the help of her great grandparents the S. J. Alveys and Rhoda Davis, great Aunt Nell Barker, the Holb-crt Smiths and Darrel Alvey, Leda Mae had quite the ex-perience; had a terrific head ache that pills would not destroy so went to the doctor who charged her five dollars to tell her she needed glasses, so she went to an eye specialist who charged her fifteen dollars to tell her she did not need them, she still had the headache. Hode Alvey made another trip to Page, Arizona to have his heel checked but Tie was still not solid enough to work, his wife Ha and LaVern Hamilton accompanied him. The Boulder ward put on their Variety Show here as scheduled with a good turn out; they had a skit with Alice Alvey and Ivan Lyman as the main characters; three tsongs by Clyde Ormond, Gary Wayne Haws and Jimmy Peter" son; a reading by Gladys Lyman and a film of the Centennial program and rodeo held here in 47; the kids said it was the olden days, many citizens who are dead and gone were shown in action. In Sacrament meeting Sunday tho South ward enjoyed the talks of June Nelson, Desmond TwitcheU, and Alton Shakespear; the 'North ward, Ira Iittlefleld, Marlon Clark and Kenneth Gouldlng, Vicky Shurtz played a clarinet solo accompanied by her mother Janeal. The Starns Mechams got word thoir son Ronald has been made Senior companion In Alabama. Graveside services were, held here Saturday for a former resident, John Woolsey whose funeral services were held in Ogden; his sons Ord-ell and Larry came for the services which were in chargo of Starns Mecham; the grave was dedicated by his brother Earl Woolsey, the work on the gravo was taken by the Elders quorum. Ho Is survived by 3 brothers here: Earl, Marlon and Marcellus; Parley and Riley of Salt Lake; a sister Sarah Heaps of Escalante. The family wants to thank everyone who assisted in any way. Tho rains have wasliod the snow all off and now oh happy day! tho time for all that outdoor work Is not too far away. |
