Show TV Or No TV Appears Closer Local citizens were disappointed Sunday when the long awaited TV Picture failed to appear on their screens. A host of people visited every set awafcing the grand event. But alas, circumstances beyond the control of our hard working committee prevented it from appearing. The local system, it Is reported, will be dependent upon the signal from nearby Beaver city, and at the time we were supposed to rcbeam the signal the Beaver system went out of commission. The committee is anxiously awaiting the time when it will again be in operation. Heading this project for the Panguitch Lions Club is Harry Gardner' and A. L. Elmer, co-chairmen. They report that they hav had excellent cooperation from the community in this project. Especially were they grateful to the Crofts Pearson Industries for their generous contributions of time, men and machinery-to aid this project. This company, they reported, had blazed the road into the area of the towels on five mile mountain, and had lent much assistance in furnishing jeeps and two way equipment. The committee chairmen also reported that they had received contributions from the American Legion Post, the Jaycces, and the Wildlife Federation together with the monies furnished by the Lions Club. The committee, with many volunteers from tho community, are now erecting a screen between the two towers to prevent any feedback from the transmitting tower to receiving tower. Mr. Gardner emphasized that the transmitting equipment would be proven to the general satisfaction of the community before any attempt would be made to take the power line to the equipment. Prospects of receiving a good picture and sound of three channels appears to be in the offering, in the next few days. |
