In magazine circles his "mots" are still being quoted with laughter. One mot concerned tho wine, a very rich and nutty fruit port which was served in English fashion, with tho fruit and nuts at tho dinner's end. All praised this wine. As for Mr. Sherard, rolling it upon his tongue, then swallowing it with closed eyes, he cried, ecstatically: "It slips down like an angel In a pair of velvet trousers!" |
