Tho senate reached a vote on the proposition shortly before adjourning at 7 o'clock Friday evening, nnd the amendment was agreed to by tho largo vote of GO to 11. With all modifying amendments disposed of. many Democrats Demo-crats voted with most or tho Republicans Repub-licans ror tho amendment. Tho test vote was on the (uibstltu-Hon (uibstltu-Hon or the corporation tax amendment foi the Income tax provision, and on that vote rorty-flvo senntors cast their ballots In tho affirmative and thirty-one thirty-one In tho negative. On this ballot all or the Democratic votes were east iniavor or the income tax, which also received the support of a number of tho Insurgent Republicans. Tho income tax question disposed of, tho senate will enter upon tho administrative ad-ministrative features of the tariff bill, probably taking up the maximum and minimum rate provisions. |
