Show 1 i Town Board Meeting. Tho Town Board m6t in regular se.i sion Tuesday night, March ISth and var lous matters of Importance wero brought up for discussion nnd settlement. Prest. Howo was In tho chair, thero also being present Trustees Lant, Sccrlst, Vanaus doln and Edwards, besides sevesal prominent prom-inent business men of tho town. The first business to bo dealt with was tho treasurer report which was to tho effect that be had reoeived 190.09 from the couuty treasurer for taxes duo from assessmont for the yenr 1803 and was in structed to cover same into the treasury. The resignation of Town Marshall W, R. Vanfleet was then brought up for consideration and finally accepted. The petitions of T. E. Secrist and George Henrle, both showing a long list of sign, era wero then read by Chairman Howe, as was also a petition requesting that the wages paid tho Town Marshall bo reduced, reduc-ed, tho funds to be saved thereby to go toward improving our public highways and side-walks. Mr. Mo.slah Evans, who was present, then spoke at some length and earnestly discouraged the Idea of a reduction on the ground that wc were desirous of securing an efficient Marshal, one who would be willing to dovoto his entire time to the town; wo must pay him the salary paid the retiring Marshal, viz. f60.00. After the mutter had been quite thoroughly discussed, a rcsolutlou was passed to the effect that the resolution to to rcducu tho Marshal's wages be not granted. Geo. Henrle was then appoint ed Town Marshal to till the vacancy caused by the resignation of W. It. Vaulted. Vau-lted. Thu offices of tho necratary and treasurer wero left unchanged aud arc held by W. P. Eaton aud James Jensen, respectively. Tho report of the comrultco on the side-walk ordinance was then asked to report, and htaled that it wax the desiic ot the people that such an ordinance be pafced, side-walks to consist of' cinders aud gravel. The president was then in-btri.ctcd in-btri.ctcd to have an ordinauco formulated for a side-walk district, with side-walks to be not less than 0 feot mIoc, grade to ba established by an engineer, subject to the approval'of the president of thu town board. A rosolttion was then passed to tho effect that tho parties owning thu deep ditch running cast and wen on Factory and Depot streets bo uutitied that same is a detriment to the town and must bo removed. re-moved.
