Show Funeral of James R. Millard. Tuesday afternoon nt the Farralngton ward meeting houso, Impresslvo funeral services were held over tho remains of James Had ford Millard, ffithcr of Mrs, Cclla Grover of this city, who died In thnt place last Sunday evening, aged 80 yenrs. Tho building wns drnppcd In white nnd many flowers and potted plnnts wero In evidence. A large pletiiro of tho deceased was hung In n prominent place. Tho choir and J K Itohtusnn, I) Hoblnson nnd J J Steed furnished the music for tho occasion. Tho speakers were President Grant, Kldcrs J 8 Clnrk, .IT Smith. Hp. J II Uoblnson, Patriarchs Patri-archs Williams, Tolman, Pace, Steed, Wilcox, Hoblnson, Harlow nnd Miller, all of whom spoko in high praise of tho life and labors of the deceased, James H Millard was born In Hldlsham Somincrsct, Gugland, March 22, 1827. lie wns baptized In his native land by Samuel Senior, being tho only member of his father's family to Identify himself with tho church of Jesus Christ of Latter Dny Saints. In 1833 Sir. Millard came to Utah and settled In Fnrmlngton, which was his homo until his demise. He married mar-ried Cathorlno Htchnrds In 1854, who preceded him to tho spirit world. Ily Is survived by four children, 23 grand-chil dren and two great grand-chlldrou. Tho names of tho children aro, John J. Millard of Oakley, Ida., Wm. J Millard of Gar don City, Ida , Mrs. Ce'la Grover of Garland Gar-land and Mary Millard of Farmlngton. Mr Millard was n patriarch. His 80th birthday anniversary was yesterday uull preparations were mado somo time ngo to hold n family reunion on thnt dny, but the all wlso crentor saw flt to call him Into tho spirit workl prior to the event. Among those who attended tho services ser-vices wero Mr nnd Mrs W L Grover und children Leslie, Alice nnd Mnry, Mrs G F Grover, nil of this city, John J Millard Mil-lard of Oakley, Idu. and Wm. J Millard of Garden Creek, Ida. Hp. W L Grover returned home Wednesday evening, but Mrs. Grover and the children will remain In Farmlngton for a few days. |
