Show At the Race Track. Quito a good-sized crowd gathered at tho race course west of town Monday nfternoon to witness tho racing events. Tho Rlch-Jcnscn raco was the chief attraction at-traction of tho day and considerable enthusiasm was manifested in this ovrnt. Nearly 11,000 changed bauds. It was lato in tho afternoon beforo tho races commenced. Tho starters wcro W D Lewis and Bon Hunsakcr, tho judges being Mark Hall and Jim Carter. The flrst event was a matched raco between Jensen's bay horso and J i" Rich's sorrel marc for n 500-yard dash, tbo purse being 1100 a sldo. Jos Jensen rodo the Jensen horso and Ernest Walker Wal-ker was tbo jockey for tho Rich mare. Tho start was fair aud tho Jensen horso camo In a length ahoad. The second raco was between Lew Grant's bay maro and John Hale 'a brown horse, Grant's bay being the winner. Cal Mayflcld's sorrel aud Grant's bay was thu third ovent, Cal being tho lucky winner. A saddle-pony raco concluded tho day's doings, tho event being a matched raco between O Wood's blue from Col-Huston Col-Huston and Geo Udy'a bay. Wood's bluo gained the victory. |
