Show American Column. Edited by Tho American Party. On the dial of the ages the index in-dex has ttruck the happy hour for political liberty in Utah. Fifteen Fif-teen years ago when the division on party lines came, it was be-cause be-cause of the freedom grunted the Mormon people by President Woodruff and the great Mormon conference. Before that lime there was religious war and mis ery. Before that time the president presi-dent of the church had been governor of the state. An n post lt-re lt-re presented Ulah in Congress Apostles made up a great portion of the legislature. High officials of the church held the offices. For more than thirty years there was only one ticket in the field, that of the People's party and they all voted as a unit. There was in truth no choice given the people. There can be no choice when there is only one ticket in ihe field. But President Woodruff Wood-ruff and the great Mormon conference con-ference changed all this. They caused a division on party lines. They could not permit high of-ficiaia of-ficiaia tn politics. The era of peace and good will came accordingly. ac-cordingly. They have swerved a little from the good old rules laid down by President Woodruff but if we can go back to them peace and good will will come again. The American party stands for keeping ihe pledges of President Woodruff. It stands for another era of peace and good will.
