Show SKELETON FOUND IN BEAR CAPON while playing on oil the hillside in dear bear river hirer canyon on saturday a number ot of boys discovered a human skeleton which was partly uncovered the skull was wholly uncovered but the remainder of the skeleton was buried under a thin layer ot of earth wrapped around the body when it was burled buried apparently was a sheet of burlap as quite a quantity of that material was still preserved ed bilth ith the bones there wag vas also a small piece ot of fabric having the appearance of silk which leads to the belief that the body was that ot of a woman sheriff J C lillywhite Lilly hite was advised ot of the find and he instructed the boys to permit the bones to remain as they were until he arrived the sheriff brought the skeleton to this city where it was minutely examined by county physician W L smith who givs it as ills his opinion that it is that of a female through the top ot of the skull a trifle to the left side from the highest point of the head a round hole three quarters ot of an inch in diameter has been drilled it Is not a bullet hole according to dr smith because of 0 its perfect circle the doctor states that a number ot of reasons might be given give for the presence of the hole in the skull one of which is an all operation performed at some time to remove something from the brain the teeth were pretty much gone from the upper jaw but the lower jaw which is large and square is well set with teeth which have been worn off even the officers have no theory as to the presence ot of the skeleton on the hillside in the canyon according to the county physician the bones must have been lying in the ground from fifteen to twenty years |
