Show U. C.T. A. The Utah County teacbera met In regular session at the Parker school-house school-house at Provo, May 11th. Superintendent Superin-tendent Christensen presiding. The train upon which Miss Maud May Babcock, the lecturer for the day, should have arrived, being two hours late, the UbI of questions published in a recent iesue were discussed singly, the ladies being conspicuous by their silence. Adjournment was taken for department de-partment work, the GoBhen teachers leading out in all departments. Miss Bibcock of the University of Utah came at 12 m Her lecture was on the subject ot reading. She considered con-sidered the subject a broad one. and one not well understood. Reading Read-ing is correct pronounciation, or real .,; J,.. r vocalizing, correct accent, correct understanding un-derstanding of every thought and shade of feeling. Correct reading is an accomplishment, that should rank above musical proficiency, and is far more uncommon. The lecture which lasted one hour and forty minutes was illustrated in a manner to help teachers improve their methods. A dramatic rendition of the court scene from the "Merchant cf Venice'' closed her masterly effort. Roll call showed an unusually large attendance. Adjourned for two weeks. |
