Show Although it was generally understood under-stood thr tjthere were a score or more of hungry republicans applicants for the office of citv justice of the peace, from which office E. A. Wedgwood lately resigned, yefc.John E. Booth had practically no opposition in the council coun-cil last night. Councilor Simmons nominated Jesse Knizht who received only one lone vote other than that of the doctor. Thomas John's petition was ignobly tabled; Charles DeMoisy's name wasn't breathed, neither was Noon's, Anderson's, Veatch's nor any one of the dozen or more others. Well Booth has had about twelve years experience ex-perience in the office of justice of the peace and is able to and will render good and efficient service. Mr. Wedgwood, Wedg-wood, his predecessor, has eiven entire en-tire satisfaction to all classes, and the fact that he waa compelled to resign because of continuing increased clientage client-age in his law office only pleases his hosts of friends.aa the public generally always likes to see a good man prosper. |
