Provo and Payson Bands E-Sead the Delegation and Furnish Good fYIusic About three o'clock yesterday the Enterprise Hand started from the v, est schoolhouse. boarded the street car. and were soon whirling towards the depot, stopping at the Hank corner to discourse some music. The occasion occa-sion was the Utah county delegation of Democrats Siting Salt Lake on the occasion of the v-sit of Hon W. L. Wilson, the "silver-tongued orator" from West Virginia. When the northbound north-bound U. 1 train arrived, the delegates dele-gates from the southern part of the county was found on board the train, accompanied by the Payson band. Among those from the countv were Hon. D. D. Iloutz, A. D. Gash. Wm. Probert, W. II. King, John W.Pike, C. A. Glazier, Geo. A. Dusenberry. John M. Hansen, Samuel L. Page, W. R. Pike, R. L. Shores, and a host of others. Altogether there was about 150 in the delegation. The two bands made things lively along the road by playing several fine selections. Arriving at Sa't Lake the delegation was met by F. II. Dyer, A. G. Nonvll, J. L. Rawlins, and a reception committee, com-mittee, accompanied by Held's band. Conveyances were furnished, which we-- rapidly filled. Headed by the tl hands, the city was serenaded, ait t which all adjourned to theCullen Hotel. After supper the delegation went to the Electric Hall, where a rwusing Democratic meeting was held. After a few preliminary remarks by P. L. Williams, chairman of the meet ing, Hon. W. L. Wilson delivered a most telling speech on the principles of Democracy, which was wildly applauded. ap-plauded. Only one accident occurred on the journey, and that was at Draper. When the train arrived there, the section sec-tion foreman got on to listen ta the band. He was rather saturated with whiskey, and stayed cn until the train was in motion. In passing from one platform to the other he feel from the train and was dragged some distance. The train was stopped, and backed up. Dr. Pike examined the man and found he had received sme very severe bruises about t lie head, one very bad gash being just over the right te"mple. The people living in the neighborhood took him in charge and the train pulled out. |
