Show Third Ward Republicans. The Republicans met in the Third ward last night for the purpose of completing com-pleting the organization of a permanent club. Joseph Taylor, as president, called the meetintr to order, an 1 James Hardy read the platform adopted by the Republican convention. This was adopted by the Third ward. Chairman Taylor then announcer that the next thing in order would be the completion of the organization, whereupon J. L. Brannngan was elected vice-preidpnt. and "Will HoIIiday. J. M. Jenson, and W. The chairman then spoke or a few minutes on the principles of Republicanism. Republi-canism. , , ,. . Chas. DeM(dsey touched lightly on the tariff question, and traced the history his-tory of each partv. In speaking of the rebellion he stated that the Democrats were in the wrong. He also claimed that the Republican principle in regard to the finance was accepted by the Democrats. Dem-ocrats. , , J L Brannaean was the next speaker. speak-er. He claimed that the tariff question was the workingman's question, as it entailed competition. If twenty men were hunting one master, wages would be low. and if twenty masters were hunting one man. wages would be higher. On motion of Mr. Brannagan the executive committee was empowered empow-ered to arrange a political discussion between the two parties of the llurd municipal ward. Carried. A dissolution dissolu-tion of forces then resulted. |
