Show SHAME ON YOU! If there was ever a storm of indignation indigna-tion and disgust in Provo, it was last evening when the Enquirer appeared on the streets with the following low and mean insinuation at the Democratic party : The party of secessionists, free traders, trad-ers, socialists, anarchists and bummers is not the party to which the people of Utah will attach themselves. '"Protection" '"Pro-tection" against all such classes is what the Republican party proposes to establish in this country. Think of it; roll it over in your minds, you who have espoused the Democratic cause. "SECESSIONISTS, SOCIALISTS, ANARCHISTS and BUMMERS." Did e ;er the most groveling partisan in the United States, write such abuse of his neighbors and former friends, as this? It is an unwarranted attack on the majority of the people of the United States and of Utah. Our sentiments may be expressed briefly on this matter in the following from the same issue of the same paper: We would suggest to our Democratic neighbor that personal abuse and mud-throwing mud-throwing are not arguments, and are not only likely to check further accessions acces-sions but to deprive the Democratic force of much of its present strength. Decent people abhor such methods. Inconsistency, thou art the Enquirer. |
