Show Society Page 2 The Gunnison Valley Gazette Thursday, November 25, 2010 Obituaries Kennard Anderson Our gentle, beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa and friend, Kennard Vern Anderson, 88, left this world Saturday, November 20, 2010 on the wings of God's chosen angels to return to the loving arms of his dear father and mother. As he left this world he was lovingly surrounded by his wife and all his children and grandchildren. Kennard was born August 7, 1922 to Oluf and Fernith Nelson Anderson and grew up with his best pals, brothers Kirk and Miles in his adored hometown of Redmond. Returning from service in the United States Army following WWII, Kennard flew to Gunnison to claim the love of his life, Glade LaRue Duffin and they were married September 5, 1946. They were sealed together for eternity in the Manti Temple September 18, 1981. Kennard's greatest treasure on earth was his family. Second was his genuine love and respect for everyone he came in contact with, but especially those who were in need of a friend. His love for his country ranged from his valient service in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII, to the deep pride in his heart as he humbly saluted the flag during a ball game. His greatest pleasures in life was watching "the boys play ball," family gatherings, camping alone under the stars with his beloved horse Queenie at his favorite camp site in Willow Creek, and teasing the little one". Kennard was a proud veteran of WWII, served over 27 years in local law enforcement including two terms as Sanpete County Sheriff where his deputies lovingly referred to him as "Boss". He was a proud member of the American Legion Post #104 , and an active member of the LDS Church where he was honored to serve as a home teacher to many families in the ward. Kennard is survived by his sweetheart Glade; four adoring children including Ray (Catherine) Anderson, Salina; Sherrie (Johnny) Anderson, Mayfield; Kirk (Janet) Anderson, Mayfield; and Lane (Darla) Anderson, Ephraim. He has two brothers, Kirk Anderson and Miles (Donna) Anderson, both of Redmond; 16 grandchildren and 29 greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one older sister, Demay. She was born in Magna on October 23, 1940, the fourth of 11 children of Clarence and Dorothy (Westerman) Henline, and spent most of her childhood in Benjamin and Salem. She attended Hollywood Beauty School in Provo where she dated some of the inmates at the mental hospital. She ran away from home to join the circus when she was 15 years old, and instead ended up waitressing at the Sky View Café where she met Ralph "Sundown" Hardman. She married him on March 25, 1960. Sharon and Ralph lived in Lehi and Kaysville, and Craig, Colorado and finally settled in Price where, much to the chagrin of the neighborhood, they raised their four boys. She and Ralph were sealed in the Manti, LDS Temple on October 10, 2009. Tootsie worked as a lunch lady at various schools around Price, at the CEU bookstore, at Professional Collections, and at LoveLess Ash. She served in the Cub Scouts, taught Primary, and loved going to Young Women Girl's Camp as camp director, which she did for many years in the Price Fourth Ward. As a child, her best talents were spitting, lying, and stealing watermelons from the neighborhood farmers. As an adult, her best talents are collecting odd junk, talking to homeless people on the street corners, and beating cancer. No one will ever know how many people she helped, how many hearts she warmed, and how many people adored her for the humor and spunk that was so uniquely her own—and no one knew from one day to the next what color her hair would be. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Dorothy Henline, her sister, Marilyn Hughes, and her sister-in-law, Ilene Henline, and brother-in-law Brad Hoffman, and brothers-in-law Blayne Hardman, Bob Hardman, and sister-in-law Daryhl Spencer. She leaves behind her husband, Ralph Hardman, her four sons, Scot in Price, Brad (Jerri) in St. George, Craig (Kristen) in Hot Sulpher, Colorado, and Steve (Christy) in Spanish Fork; her grandchildren, Brandie, Broc, Connor, Koriann, Matthew, Noah, James, Charlie, Jacob, Abby, and Sarah; her siblings, Mick Henline, Butch Henline (Helen), Linda Ivie (Bill), Nancy Sperry (Ted), Judy Creer (Richard), Cathy Sayer (Dave), Nona Benner (Dwayne), Lois Hoffman (Keith Johnson) and Stacy (Bart Provstgaard). Ralph's siblings are Fern Curtis (Howard), Wayne (Linda) Hardman, Alta Mae (Greg) Radmall and Tony Hardman. Sharon, Ma, Tootsie, Brunhilda we love you and will never forget you.
