Show B21 Castle Valley Review, March 2009 Jeffrey Lynn Hunt PRICE - Jeffrey Lynn Hunt age 39 returned to his Heavenly Father on February 14, 2009 at his home in Price with his mother and brother Roger by his side. Jeff was born October 13, 1969 in Price, Utah to Wayne and Nina Nason Hunt. He married Merrillee Wilberg then later divorced, but remained good friends. Jeff was raised in Price and attended Price schools and graduated from the College of Eastern Utah after three years, his specialty at CEU was drafting and he helped design the new student center on campus. Jeff later got a degree in Histo technology and worked at Cas- Norma Powell Tandy GREEM RIVER — Norma Powell Tandy, age 79, passed away February 14, 2009. She was born December 25, 1929 to Jesse and Hazel Powell in Green River, Utah. Norma graduated from the University of Utah with an R.N. Degree. She worked as the head Registered Nurse at Lassen Medical Group in Red Bluff, California for 30 years. As a faithful member of the LDS church throughout her life, she held many leadership positions and served three missions for the church. Norma also worked at the Oakland Cherie Jeannine Watkins Greenwood PRICE – Cherie Jeannine Watkins Greenwood, age 79, died February 6, 2009 in Price, Utah. She was born December 10, 1929 to Bernell and Edna Watkins in Rolapp, Utah. She married Joseph (Buss) Greenwood on December 25, 1948 their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Cherie graduated from Carbon High School and later graduated from Carbon College Earl O. James HELPER-Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Earl O. James, age 90, passed away at home surrounded by his family at 6:00 a.m. on February 4, 2009. He was born May 1, 1918 in Helper, Utah to Frank J. and Elizabeth Leona Seely James. Married Yvonna Mae Anderson, November 26, 1938 in Castle Dale, Utah; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on December 19, 1964. Earl was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fish- tleview Hospital in the Lab for several years. Jeff liked to go hunting with his family and friends, go boating and fishing, arrowhead and rock hunting and most of all spending time with his children, Garrett and Sydney, going to sporting activities and doing other fun things. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survived by his mother Nina, two children Garrett Lee and Sydney Lynn Hunt of Helper, brothers; Roger Wayne Hunt of Price and Vincent Moroni (Jen) Hunt of Salem, Utah, sisters; Debra Sue (Richard) Feador of Henderson, NV, Lois Gaylene (Chuck) Balzer of Carson City, NV, Tamela Rae Hunt of Grand Junction, Temple and, for the past 10 years, at the Manti Temple. She was full of spirit and enjoyed playing pranks. Norma loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to teach and to dance. Norma is survived by her four children: Janeice Dean of Orangevale, CA, Charles (Debbie) Tandy of Washington City, UT, Debbie (Geoff) Dunn of Redding, CA, and Diane (David) Guerrero of Kingston, WA; three siblings: John (Joyce) Powell of Green River, UT, Molly (Easton) Scovill of Ferron, UT, and Jesse (Jackie) Powell of Richfield, UT; 17 grandwith a nursing degree. She was an active member of the LDS church where she held many callings. She is survived by her son, Lance (Rachel) Greenwood of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Harry B. (Karen) Watkins of Salt Lake City, UT; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Sherrill of Green River, UT. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons: Kyle, Jerry, and Douglas Greenwood; and brother, Dennis Watkins. He retired as a locomotive engineer with the Denver & Rio Grande Western Rail Road in 1979 with 37 years of dedicated service. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Yvonna James; sons, Louis (Erma) James, Arthur James; daughter, Vearla James-Warner; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Rhea Parry and Donna Chiaretta. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank, Donald, and Glen James. Arleen McCrae CO. Preceded in death by his father Wayne M. Hunt. Funeral services were February 18, 2009 at the Price LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Cliffview Cemetery in Price. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. PRICE - Arleen O. McCrae departed this world at the age of 94, on February 9, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Arleen was born October 14, 1914 in Castle Dale, Utah to parents Henning B. and Minnie Christensen Olsen. She was raised with brothers Forrest, Lloyd and John, and sisters Zelila and Marie. She spent most of her youth in Price, Utah. Arleen moved to California as a young women, and married William C. McCrae, who is also deceased. Arleen lived for many years and raised a family, in Northern California, where she retired from Stanford Hospital. She moved with her daughter and son-in-law to both New York and Virginia later in life in order to be near her daughter and family. Arleen was an active, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by a son, William H. McCrae and daughterin-law Bobbi McCrae of Fremont, California; a daughter Suzanne Brower and son-in-law Larry Brower of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren Cary McCrae, Erin McCrae Brewster, Jim Lutje, and Megan McCrae Brower; and greatgrandchildren Billy Dean Brewster and Brooke Brewster. Marie Draper is her surviving sister, residing in Price. It was Arleen’s long held hope to return home to Price and to be near her parents Hen- ning and Minnie Olsen and next to her brother Lloyd. Her family is pleased to make this wish come true. Family and friends were asked to join the family on February 20 at Mitchell’s Funeral Home in Price. On February 21, there was a grave dedication at the Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home. Dance Studio in Helper and Barbara’s Fashion Boutique in Price and Helper. She enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist. She loved animals and was an active supporter of the humane society. She is survived by three daughters and one son, Athena Carlile, Stephanie Marvidikis, McRay Marvidikis, Sabrina Marvidikis; 5 grandchildren, Monique and Tyler Carlile, Stevie and Joshua Marvidikis, and her special girl Caylyne Marvidikis; and three great-grandchildren, Kyson, Olivia and Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers and one sister. Funeral service was February 11, 2009, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment was in Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price. Barbara Marvidikis children and 13 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Eda May Powell. Graveside services were February 17, 2009 at the Elgin Cemetery in Green River. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. HELPER-Barbara Mae Lopez Marvidikis, age 71, passed away February 7, 2009 after a lengthy illness at her home. She was born May 8, 1937 in Helper, Utah to Charles Adolph and Irene Julander Lopez. Married William “Bill” Marvidikis, July 16, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada; he died December 11, 1998. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Barbara was a longtime resident of Carbon County where she owned and operated the Marvidikis “Lefty” Louie C. Slavensky Fund. Graveside service was February 13, 2009 at the Price City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. HELPER - “Lefty” Louie C. Slavensky, 90 died February 5, 2009 in Price, Utah. Lefty was born in Castle Gate, Utah to John and Mary Slavensky on January 30, 1919. He married Elaine Julander Christensen in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 1, 1947. She died April 10, 1977. Lefty then married Daisy L. Franco on July 16, 1977 in Wendover, Nevada. Lefty was raised in Helper, Utah and lived all of his life in Carbon County Utah except while he was in the service during WWII. He was an avid softball player with a wicked left arm pitch, which earned him the nickname of “Lefty”. He joined the Army Air Corp. in 1942 and served on the North African Front of the war until November 29, 1945. He was a member of UMWA. Lefty was an avid bowler and known as one of the best in Carbon County. He was a fierce competitor and loved the game, the people he bowled with, and those he bowled against. Lefty and Daisy are well known as a bowling couple that loved the game and each other. Tributes Funeral service was February 7, 2009, at the Helper LDS Stake Center. Interment was in Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price. Lefty was a hard worker and was often found working in his yard and garden. Lefty is survived by his wife Daisy, three stepchildren- Elna (Jack) Blackham, Ramond (Pam) Franco, Judy (Jesse) Ford-, and numerous grand and great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents and Elaine. He was also the last surviving member of his family of five brothers and two sisters. Graveside services were February 14, 2009 at the Mountain View Cemetery, Helper. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
