March 7 Senator Bennett Visit Barn’s Grill in Castle Dale will host the Senator Bob Bennett Breakfast on March 7 at 9 a.m. All interested individuals are invited to attend. You must RSVP to attend the breakfast. Call 749-9989 or 748-2488. Barn Blast The Barn Blast Bullriders Only rodeo will be held March 7, 7 p.m., at the Carbon County Fairgrounds indoor arena. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for youth 7-12 years of age and free for children 6 and under. Winter Backpack Trip Carbon County Recreation will present a Winter Backpack Trip March 7-8 with guide Bo Christensen. The fee for the class is $10, which includes snowshoes and transportation. March 14 St. Patrick’s Day Parade The Price St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be March 14, beginning at noon on Price Main Street. There will also be food and games for everyone. Simply Ballroom “Simply Ballroom” dancing will be presented at the College of Eastern Utah BDAC March 14, 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are available in advance at Albertsons in Price for $8 or for $10 at the door. Tickets for students and children under 12 will be $5 at the door. Food Handlers Class A Food Handler’s Class will be held at the SEUDHD – 25 West Main Street in Castle Dale, on March 18, at 4 and 7 p.m. For more information call 381-2252. $2 (free soda pop). Dodge Ball Emery County Recreation is sponsoring its first ever Dodge Ball Tournament March 21 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Recreation Center in Castle Dale. Organizers report there is a lot of excitement for this “friendly” little competition and hope that local businesses and groups will from teams for fun and bragging rights as dodge ball “heroes.” Admission cost is $5 per person and teams must have a minimum of six people. For more information call Emery County Recreation at 381-2108 March 26 Dance Class Emery County Recreation will present a six-week class on your favorite ballroom dances beginning March 26 and continuing every Thursday for six weeks from 6-8 p.m. For class is designed for ages 14 to adult and the cost is $40 per person or $65 per couple. For more information call Emery County Recreation at 381-2108. Coming Up Tennis Lessons Carbon County Recreation is sponsoring tennis lessons for youth and adults beginning April 8. March 12 March 21 Spring Soccer Youth Dance Emery County Relay for Life Spring Soccer in Carbon County is quickly approaching. There will be a mini camp for kindergarten and 1st grade students March 12. The camp is $15 or $25 with league included (includes camp T-shirt). Play will begin immediately after school (Mondays at Sally Mauro; Tuesdays at Wellington and Pinnacle Canyon Academy; Wednesdays at Castle Heights; Thursdays at Creekview). Soccer league signup deadline for youth 5 years old and older will be March 10. Fee prior to March 8 is $16 (shirt not included in signup fee) or $28 (shirt included with The Ferron Youth City Council will sponsor a Youth Dance with DJ Willie Frisbie on March 21 at 7 to 10 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Recreation Center. The dance is designed for youth ages 12 to 18 years olds (student identification required). Admission is The Emery County Relay for Life Cancer walk will be held June 12-13 at the Emery High School Track. If you sign up your team by March 15 the registration fee will be $50 for your team. If you sign up after this date the registration fee will be $100. The next team meeting will be held March 26. The meeting location is still undecided, so if you have any questions or would like to register your team, contact Judi Bishop at 653-2221. Green River Trail Ride The 21st annual Green River Trail Ride will be held April 18-19, where riders can take in the panoramic San Rafael Swell region with the “Green River Wild Bunch.” The ride is limited to the first 125 paid reservations and application deadline April 6. Rider cost is $60 per person. There are two meals available, dinner Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Meals are $35 per person. For more information go to www.ecso.com or call Kathy at 435-654-8144 or Dawna at 435-564-3354. Friendship Cruise The 47th Annual Friendship Cruise is planned for Memorial Day weekend, May 2225. The cruise begins in Green River and runs down the river to the confluence of the Colorado and up the river to Moab. The trip is 184 miles and usually takes two or three days to make the run, due to many natural and historic sites you may want to explore. The cruise includes transportation of your vehicle from Green River to Moab, where it will be waiting for you at the Moab dock. Two fuel stops, cruise rescue boats, launching and docking facilities and assistance, plus radio communications for emergency messages are included in the registration fee. Larger boats and deep v-hulls are marginal in lower water and jet skis and catamarans and sailboats are not allowed. Pontoon boats must have a minimum of a 150 horse power engine. For more information call 435-564-8144 or 435-5648227. Cowboy Caucus The 15th Annual Cowboy Caucus will be held in Green River on May 28-29. On May 28 there will be a welcome for all the cowboys and a story telling at the John Wesley Power River History Museum at 1:30 p.m., with a potluck dinner at the Green River City Park at 5 p.m. On May 29 there will be a field trip. Everyone is invited to bring a friend or two, an old artifact, story of photo to share. Easter Seals Positions Open There are currently two Easter Seals positions open for seniors (55 years old or older) to work 20 hours a week minimum at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum and Green River Archives. CEU Climbing Wall The College of Eastern Utah Climbing Wall is open to all each Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The fee of $2 includes use of shoes and gear, plus an instructor to help you improve your climbing skills. San Rafael Classic Triathlon The 2009 San Rafael Classic Triathlon will be held June 19-21 at the Huntington State Park. A fund raising event for the Emery County Search and Rescue Team, the first triathlon proved to be a huge success and the 2009 triathlon is already shaping up to be even better. The San Rafael Classic offers triathlon, duathon and team relay events. The course begins with a swim at Huntington Lake, then a bike ride on Mohrland Road and wraps up with a run through Huntington State Park and around the lake. There will be sprint distance events, Olympic distance events, kids’ triathlon and team relay. All registered athletes get a free pasta dinner, race packet with event T-shirt, water bottle, swim cap and lot of other items. Registration is $60 per athlete or $120 per team.
