The Stock Market and High School Branson Belle Several students at ALA competed with many other high school students nationwide in the Stock Market Game. Students were given $100,000 dollars to invest in the stock market for a 10-week period. These students had to track the market and figure out ways to make money in this market. Most lost money; however, a couple of teams were successful in the game. Emily Searle and Amanda Baadsgaard made up the team that finished in first place in the state of Utah and fourth place in the national standings against all high school students. Sarah Madson and Robin Bohne finished third in the state and seventh in the nation. Emily and Amanda made a $49,967.53 profit in the 10-week period, while Sarah and Robin made $37,765.25. Both teams are to be congratulated for their outstanding achievement. They were honored at an awards banquet on Jan. 15 in Salt Lake City. All four of these students are honor roll students near the top of their classes.
