Local scout receives top honor On Jan. 10, 2010 Kameron Anderson, 15, was presented the National Certificate of Merit from the Boy Scouts of America for saving his father's life after a four-wheeler accident. He is a member of the Mapleton 18th Ward in the Mapleton North Stake. On April 18, 2009, three families were four-wheeling near Moab. Tim Anderson, Kameron's dad, was leading the group of 14 ATVs when he accidently drove off a 36foot cliff. He landed spreadeagle, face down in a creek of 6-10 inches of water. Kameron saw his dad fall and he ran up the trail until he could safely slide down the embankment and get to his dad. He knew he shouldn't move a victim in case of neck or back injury, but he did not want his dad to drown. By using the straps on his dad's backpack he was able to turn him over. After getting his dad to breathe, he gently dragged him out of the water. He cared for him for over an hour until emergency crews arrived. Kameron credited his Boy Scout first aid training in helping save his father's life. Ezra T. McMullin Nay inducted into honor society Ezra T.
