Show orts A14 • WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2009 Guardian of Your Community News Namon Bills EDITOR Local cowboys competed in the National Finals Rodeo — the World Series of professional rodeo — Dec. 3-12 in Las Vegas. The big news from this year's NFR: Texan Trevor Brazile tied rodeo legend Ty Murray's record of seven all-around world championships. While Brazile handily won the title, Spanish Fork's Clint Robinson finished third in the all-around standings with earnings of over $200,000. Robinson also placed in tiedown roping. Other top local contenders were Kaycee Feild and Steve Woolsey. Robinson finished 10th in tie-down roping, with a score of 82.7 over nine rounds. A perennial contender for the tie-down title, Robinson came out strong in the first three rounds, finishing third, second and first, respectively in rounds one through three. He matched his third-round first-place time of 7.3 seconds to also win round nine, but slow times in rounds five and seven, with a no-time in round six put the SF cowboy out of contention for the crown. Robinson finished fourth in the world for 2009 tie-down roping. with a total score of 806 in Robinson said although 10 rounds.
