They had fun making their costumes, and participating in Pilgrim and Indian traditions such as candle making, weaving, pottery and making butter. FRIENDSHIP FEAST: Brockbank first-graders celebrated Thanksgiving early by making a Friendship Feast. Included in their feast was pretzels representing friendship, candy corn symbolizing the harvest of corn, cranberries, bugle corn chips resembling the cornucopia (which is a symbol of an abundance of food), and a Hershey candy corn kiss to represent love. The students talked about how much there was to be thankful for and then each student had the opportunity to share one thing that they are personally thankful for with their class. Nuis&Boiis Carrier and COOPERATION: Brockbank kindergartners celebrated Thanksgiving with their annual cooperation dinner. Each student helps put the dinner together and learns the importance of working together. The students really enjoy eating a meal that they helped make! Pictured are students from Mrs. Amberly Kariuki's afternoon kindergarten class. USING YOUR SMARTS: Second-grade students from Canyon Elementary held their "Invention Convention" Friday, Nov. 21st. The students had been learning about problem solving in their classes. They used their problem solving skills to create inventions that they displayed for their parents and classmates. Pictured, left to right, are, Christina Hutchings and Ashlynn Crockett. MOON WATCHING: Mrs. Natalie Wright's third-grade class has been studying the phases of the moon. Students had fun as they ate away parts of cookies to represent the different moon phases. They glued the cookies on paper, in the correct order, to show the waxing and waning of the moon phases. Pictured, left to right, are, Griffin Roberts-Cox, Kennidee Disbrow, Addesyn Marshall and Andrew Romare. REFLECTIONS: Brockbank Elementary is happy to announce their reflection winners for 2008. It was a very hard job narrowing down the winners, there was 135 entries this year relating to the theme "WOW...". All of the students did a wonderful job and really enjoyed the experience.
