Show a publication of The Spanish Fork News Postal service Kirsten Reimschiissel STAFF WRITER Clint Harwood has been a postal worker since 1985 and has not regretted it. Now he has been voted the best postal worker in Spanish Fork and Salem by the citizens. It all began when Harwood worked at a printing place in Provo and heard of an opportunity for the post office there. "It became an opportunity ... so I decided to make a change in careers," Harwood said. After taking the postal exam and several interviews Harwood became a postal carrier out on the road. He enjoyed being a carrier because he got to deliver straight to the costumers and got to know and talk to the people on his route. There carne a point when he decided he did not want to go tramping through the snow when he was 50 or 60 years old, so he transferred to be a clerk in Orem. Soon, another opportunity came his way. With the new Spanish Fork Office being built, new jobs were opened. Harwood seized the chance to be closer to home and the town, and people he loves. He has been working in Spanish Fork now for about ten years — since the new office opened. He said Spanish Fork has grown since then, but he loves to see the people, not only the "older folks," but the new people as well. "I'm a people person... I love to see people every day," said Harwood. He loves to help them with their packages and tries to help if they are having a bad day, but sometimes they may help him with his. He said, "It works both ways." Harwood was flattered and appreciative for the vote from so many residents. "I appreciate the vote for [Best Postal Worker]," said Harwood. "Thank you. It's an honor to help, work, and serve people." a . .
