Show The Best of Spanish Fork & Salem 2007 Survey results bring surprises Namon Bills EDITOR The results are in once again for the Spanish Fork News' Best of Spanish Fork and Salem Survey. Some of the results were expected and some came as a surprise. One surprise was the number of responses we received. As this is only our second year doing this survey, I expected we'd have about the same amount of feedback as last year. I was quite surprised at the volume of response, which far exceeded last year's survey. Thanks to all our readers who took the time to fill out the survey and get it back to us. Thanks also go to Jimmy Hardman, Charlie Hardman and Kirsten Reimschiissel for the many EXPECTED AND hours they devoted to entering data and tabulating results. This time around Maceys came out as the big winner. Not only were they voted best grocery store, but they also came in first for best customer service, tied for best floral and won for (drumroll, please) best public restroom. We added categories for police officer and postal worker this year in order to honor some of those in our community who put in a lot of service without receiving a lot of recognition. As was the case with our other "people" categories, many different people received votes. In the end, Clint Harwood at the Spanish Fork Post Office and Carl Johnston with the SFPD came out on top. In the "fun" categories, Disneyland seems to be UNEXPECTED: Canyon View Park, background, was voted best park for the second year in a row, while the library water fountain, inset, got some stiff competition from the drinking fountain in the SFHS Seminary building. the preferred vacation spot among our readership, and the library drinking fountain edged out some tough competition by the drinking fountain at the SFHS Seminary building. Perhaps the additional volume in response was partially due to the fact that this year we added a prize drawing for those who turned in surveys. Thanks to the generous businesses who provided our prizes this year: Hines Mansion Bed and Breakfast, Sweetbriar Cove, Jaxies Restaurant and Diamond L Designs. Prize winners are listed inside this section. So look over the survey results and see what you think. If you didn't fill out a survey this year, keep your eyes peeled for next year's so your voice can be counted too. |
