Maceys was voted best ;grocery store, best customer service, best restroom and tied for best florist. Apparently to members of the community Maceys is more than just a place to buy groceries, which pleases the stores General Manager, Bill Summers. "It's good to see that the training of our employees, our in house mentoring program and Maceys philosophy of treat everyone as a guest has made a favorable impression with the members of the community", stated Summers, who is no stranger to the grocery business himself, starting his career with Maceys back in 1982. Summers is pleased that the store he manages welcomes, on average, 25,000 guests each week and that he has the opportunity to work closely with what he considers a winning team from of high school and college students and senior citizens who man the checkout stands and the department heads. "We are very selective when hiring. We are looking for an employee that is self-motivated and friendly. Customer service is the key to the success of the store and our employees understand through their training that we are here to assure our guests of a good experience every time they come to do business with us", said Summers. There is a lot that goes into running a grocery store the size of Maceys and Summers was quick to point out and praise his department heads: Front End Manager Jodi Christenson; Rod Thompson over the Meat Department; Tim Alan in Produce; the Bakery's Deena Ainge; Sylvia Langdon from the Service Deli; plus the Executive Staff comprised of Raul Carson, Mark Thomson, and As- Dana Robinson / Spanish Fork News SERVICE WITH A SMILE: Bill Summers stands with a few members of Maceys' winning team. sistant Manager Todd Reeves. When Summers was informed that the store had tied for Best Florist he was not surprised, stating, "We hired a professional florist who does an outstanding job. We wanted to be the best we could and it's gratifying that we have become known for high quality flowers, plants and gift items and have earned the repeat business of our guests." Being voted Best Restroom after considering how many there are in Spanish Fork and Salem did surprise Summers but he said, "It just goes to Maceys' guest philosophy. For example, if you are going to have house guests you wouldn't want your bathroom to be an embarrassment. It's the same thing here at the store, we keep our bathrooms clean and supplied so our guests feel comfortable." Concerning Maceys being such a favorite in the Best of Spanish Fork and Salem, Summers said, "Maceys is glad to be a part of such a good community which we enjoy being involved with and supporting in what ways we can. It's nice to be recognized again in such a favorable way and I personally want to thank our valued guests for their votes and for shopping at Maceys." |
