Show fY Student Has Great Fun With Hobby THE LAKE TRIBUNE SUNDAY MORNING OCTOBER SALT Collecting studying and mounting moths and butterflies is the unusual hobby of Jack Hargreayes 14 a student at Bryant high school Jack has one of the finest collections in Salt Lake City and "he has caught or raised from cocoons very specimen in his collection1 Unusual beauty of specimens and painstaking care In mounting and preserving are the two features that strike the onlooker when he ex' amines the display now on exhibit in the front hall of Bryant high school So great was the interest among the students that Miss Jessie Harroun principal at Bryant persuaded Jack to give a talk on his The hobby in a recent assembly substance of his talk is reproduced here for the benefit oLthosa— who are interested in the same field Butterflies and moths do not need to be preserved in any way as there is nothing to preserve How1 ever they must be dried thoroughly or the dampness will cause mold It is necessary to mount the specimens as soon as you return from the field To mount moths and butterflies you must 'have a spreading board To construct a spreading board use two pieces of soft white pine three quarters of an inch thick three inches high and seven inches long for the ends You will also need two pieces that ace three inches wide and one foot long Lay the two long boards side by side inch apart Nail them to the ends so they will be held firmly Hollo folks!
