Well, now's your chance. The 10th annual Commander's Cup is set for Sept. 8 at Hill Air Force Base's Hubbard Golf Course. The one-day event tees off with a golf clinic led by John Kimbell, the 2007 South Georgia Classic Champion, and several other Nationwide Tour professionals. "Anyone (with access to the base) is welcome to attend the clinic," said Tony Angelico, Hubbard Golf Course's general manager and head golf professional. Immediately following the clinic is a golf tournament. Cost is $130 per golfer to play in the tournament, which covers greens fees, golf cart, food and prizes. Each team will consist of one pro and four amateur players. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Hill Aerospace Museum. "The Commander's Cup golf tournament continues to be a major annual function for the Aerospace Heritage Foundation of Utah," said Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Angelico said twentyeight teams will likely play in this year's tournament and the format is a modified Las Vegas scramble. All players hit their respective tee shots, the best shot is selected and all players play their own ball from that point on. One gross and one net score is used for the team score. PGA pros who have participated in past Commander's Cup events include: Johnny Miller, Mike Weir, Tom Watson, Bruce Summerhays, Dave Mobley, Ernie Schneiter, Mike Reid, Dan Forsman, Mike Lewis and John Kimbell. This year's tournament is held in conjunction with the Nationwide's Tour Utah Championship held at Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy from Sept.10 through Sept. 13. Former champions include current PGA tour players John Daly, Zach Johnson, Arron Oberholser and Brett Wetterich.
