Arriving at the Stan and Bill Morrell with Mickey Zuidema, who helped save the Morrell cabin. fire they saw the flames moving down the mountain at an alarming rate, shooting flames up to 40 to 50 feet into the sky. Right in the fire’s way stood the locally known got into the truck and sped back to Red Rock – her thoughts frantic. She only arrived two weeks before from Michigan, joining Mickey and here she was helping to fight a fire! It all seemed surreal—like a nightmare. Jan Yoak was in town and arrived at Red Rock Ranch soon after the fire started. She and her crew joined Marci in the kitchen. They prepared food and, in between, went outside to hose down the buildings. Meanwhile Amanda got back to the fire with the hoses. The flames hissed as the water hit it. At Red Rock the emergency vehicles, media trucks, and locals arrived in a cloud of dust and Weber County’s fire department set up a command post. When Christine Shupe arrived at the turnoff at Water Canyon road, the police were putting up barricades. She told them that her children and dogs were up there.
