All children from infancy through five years of age, and their caregivers, are invited to attend for stories and learning activities. The group meets Tuesdays for a mountain biking, and Thursdays for a road ride. Please come and offer to lead us on your favorite bike ride. September 28: Ralph and Patricia Shropshire Memorial Trail Ride – We will meet at the Red Rock Ranch and Outfitters parking lot at 9:00 a.m. and go for a ride (horse, four wheelers, motorcycles, truck) to celebrate our great friends of the Ogden Valley. This is open to all who knew and loved them. RSVP would be appreciated, but not necessary. September 28: Join the Wild Bird Center on a Nature/Bird Walk Saturday morning, at the Ogden Nature Center. The cost of the walk is “enthusiasm” . . . we take care of the rest! This is a great activity for the family, and a superb way to introduce children to nature. October 8: The Ogden Nature Center will host the community workshop, “Edible Wild Plants,” from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Hike the Ogden Nature Center trails for an introduction to the world of edible wild plants with botanist/instructor Richard Bush. Learn how to find and safely snack on “cheesies,” seeds, and berries. Sample peppergrass, cattail roots, and wild greens. You man be surprised to learn how many of these trail snacks are all around you, even in your own back yard. Dress for the weather, and bring insect repellant. For ages 16 and above. Raised on a ranch, cowboy poet and reciter Don Kennington will share tales of up-close encounters with tails (he has shod over 30,000 horses in his day), revive the sounds, sights and smells of living in harmony with nature. His poetry will bring a laugh to your heart and a tear to your eye. Ken will bring warm cobbler to your belly. So bring your appetite, a blanket, and dress for the weather.
