HUNTSVILLE WATER cont. from page 1 with a low bid of $110,000.00 was awarded the contract to construct the project, and it was completed to the satisfaction of everyone in the spring of 1988. This water system has been very beneficial to the town. It has kept the entire area, including the park and cemetery, green all summer which enhances the town’s beauty, and makes it a very choice place to live. Many flowers are blooming everywhere you look. The gardens and lots are very productive. There have been many side benefits resulting from the project, and the Board of Directors have enjoyed participating in and enjoying company activities. In February of this year, the board paid the State of Utah a quarter of a million dollars to completely pay off the company’s indebtedness—six years early, saving around $30,000 dollars. There has not been a single dollar paid out for wages in the 15 years, except for a minimum charge for the town back-hoe and operator for the few times they were used. The company has a million-dollar liability insurance policy, and the company pays $1,000 a year for Causey water. The town of Huntsville is also involved in a major upgrading of the culinary water system by enclosing all springs, constructing a filtration system, building a million gallon storage tank, and building a new and larger chlorination system, along with replacing the present pipe with new and larger pipe from the spring into town. The culinary water now meets or exceeds all state and federal codes. WARNING: THE SECONDARY WATER IS UNFIT TO DRINK The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Hosts Essay Contests Letters to the Editor This is in response to an article that ran in the September 1, 2002 issue of the OGDEN VALLEY NEWS titled “Planning Commission Passes Controversial Zoning Request by Wolf Creek”concerning re-zoning within Wolf Creek for a storage area. Spot Zoning? other commercial activity could take place at that location, this is not really spot zoning. Spot zoning is what happens when a particular zone, usually commercial, is located in an area of other uses. That is exactly what we are trying to avoid with this request; rather than several small storage facilities located in the middle of residential areas, we want one facility located away from any residences. The proposed storage lot is located adjacent to waste water treatment cells on the west and south, and roads on the east and north. This area is the entrance to Wolf Creek Resort, which is one reason why we are committed to make the entire site as attractive as practical. On the street sides there will be a 4 - 6 foot berm with trees and shrubs on top to screen the area from view. This newly landscaped area will be maintained by the same crew that services the Wolf Creek golf course. To get some idea of our commitment to beautifying the area, as you approach Wolf Creek, please see the new entrance that we have built just below Wolf Lodge and the road to Moose Hollow. Everyone seems to agree that a secure place to store boats and recreational vehicles is needed at Wolf Creek Resort. The only question is where it should be located. The pertinent Weber County zoning ordinance allows, as a conditional use, the location of such a facility in a Planned Residential Unit Development (PRUD). Wolf Creek, as a whole, is a PRUD with smaller PRUDs within the overall project. An RV storage lot, such as the one Wolf Creek proposes to locate next to the wastewater treatment cells, could be built in each phase of residential development if approved as part of that original plat. Wolf Creek chose not to do that, opting instead to have one facility for all Wolf Creek owners to store recreation vehicles, located away from any residences, in a convenient and secure place.
