Show Volume XXVII Issue II The Ogden Valley news Page 11 June 1, 2020 Local Business Gives Back to the Community As a way of giving back to the community during the pandemic, Valley Extreme Clean of Eden hosted a community roadside cleanup project Saturday, May 16 from 9:00 a.m. to noon, beginning at the four-way stop in Eden near Valley Market and moving down towards Pineview Dam. According to business owner Jeffrey Nye of Eden, “We had approximately 20 people show up to help us; thus, we were able to clean the majority of the highway from the dam to the four-way stop. We were able to fill over 15 large trash bags and had a great time! “We would like to thank the following people who came out and helped Jeffrey Nye, Chelby Sutton, Donna Stephens, Marta Silva, Mary Britt, Jan Rainford, Chuck Rainford, Claudia Nye, Katie Maurer, Bob Holliday (not shown), and Paula Hawks (not shown). PerformanceWest Physical Therapy’s Enduring Commitment to Ogden Valley PerformanceWest for a doctoral program Physical Therapy first opened its doors in 1998 in Bountiful, Utah by Kim Reid and Curtis Jolley. Their hard work and dedication soon started paying off as their practice grew. Kim, a small-town kid at heart, had a passion for the outdoors and snowmobiling in particular. Early in his career he purchased a cabin above Ogden Valley and quickly grew to love the area. As he spent more and more time there, he realized there was a lack of medical care in the Valley. He and Curtis decided to open their company’s second location in Eden. As the two of them split time working in Eden when they weren’t managing their busy practices in Bountiful, the clinic grew. Their belief was that as they committed themselves to Ogden Valley, people would commit to them. They became heavily involved in Ogden Valley Business Association and partnered in starting the Ogden Valley PerformanceWest triathlon (which eventually grew and became the XTerra Triathlon that continues today). As the Eden clinic grew, it became apparent to Kim and Curtis they needed someone who could fully dedicate themselves to working in the valley. Over the years they have had several really good therapists, but it has been a challenge to find someone who was able to dedicate themselves to the Eden clinic and only the Eden clinic. This March, PerformanceWest made its most significant hiring in the history of the Eden clinic. Jared Rose grew up in Morgan County on a small family dairy farm nestled at the base of the mountains where he had to work hard, and where he learned the value of an active lifestyle. Jared spent as much time as he could outside hiking, working the farm, and playing Helping with the community cleanup were, from left to right, Jeffrey Nye, Chelby Sutton, Donna Stephens, Marta Silva, Mary Britt, Jan Rainford, Chuck Rainford, Claudia Nye, Katie Maurer, Bob sports (soccer and wrestling) for Morgan High School. This active lifestyle led to an interest Holliday (not shown), and Paula Hawks (not shown). in, and the eventual pursuit of, a physical therapy degree. He understood the challenges of going to school and meeting the requirements in physical therapy. One of those requirements was hundreds of hours of experience in a physical therapy setting. He knew Kim through a mutual acquaintance and called him to see if he had a job. Jared was so eager to get his required hours he told Kim “I will drive to Bountiful and take out Jared Rose your garbage everyday if that is all you have for me.” Jared was hired as an aide and his hard work and dedication to the field of physical therapy was evident immediately. When Jared left for physical therapy school, the owners always hoped to bring him back if they had an opening when he graduated. Although there wasn’t an open position when Jared graduated, he was at the top of the list when the Eden job opened. Jared was very excited by the offer and committed quickly. Having grown up so close to Ogden Valley, Jared has a love for the area already and is anxious to put down permanent roots here. His work ethic and personality will no doubt help him grow and flourish here. PerformanceWest Physical Therapy is elated about the future of the Eden clinic. They were recently able to become a provider for SelectHealth Insurance as well. This, with all of the other insurances accepted, will enable Jared to provide care for everybody in the Valley so people don’t have to go down the canyon for their care.
