Fly with the Flock 5K Trail Run/2.5K Kids Run & Pancake Breakfast at Ogden Nature Center Registration is now open for the Ogden Nature Center’s 5K Trail Run and Pancake Breakfast slated for Saturday, May 13. Runners and families are invited to enjoy the great outdoors and a lively morning at the Ogden Nature Center. Whether running or walking, this route will be filled with surprises and topped off with a pancake breakfast at the end of the run. The 5K course is two laps winding through 152 acres on dirt trails. Children under 12 can run a 2.5K and young children can participate in a free, 100-foot kids dash with tree-cookie medals for every child who participates. Please note: walkers will not be timed for medals, but are welcome and encouraged to participate. The Ogden Nature Center staff will be on hand to introduce live birds of prey and other native animals. Union Grill will cater a delicious pancake breakfast with coffee by Grounds For Coffee. Awards, prizes, and kids activities will follow the race on the back lawn of the Visitor Center. Cost $23 adults/$14 kids 12 and under (early registration) $28 adults/$16 kids 12 and under (after April 23) Important Dates & Times • Thru April 23: Early registration online, by phone, by mail, or in person at ONC • April 24 and after: Late registration • May 12: Registration packets may be picked up the day before the race at ONC 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. • May 13: Trail Run! For more information visit <www.ogdennaturecenter.org> Weber County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Reoccurring Phone Scam The Weber County Sheriff’s Office is trying to get the word out about a new phone scam—a reoccurring old scam. According to the Weber county Sheriff’s Facebook page, “the scam consists of an individual calling and iden- tifying themselves as a member of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. They will then inform the caller that they have a warrant. They are very convincing and will have personal details about the victim. They will try to get the victim to wire transfer money. This is a scam. The Sheriff’s Office will never ask someone to wire money. Earth Day Art Contest at Ogden Nature Center Children in kindergarten through the sixth grade are invited to enter the Ogden Nature Center’s annual Earth Day Art Poster Contest. There is no entry fee. This year’s theme is “Be”Utah”ful…my favorite Utah landscape.” This is a fun opportunity for children to show their love of nature through art. All entries will be exhibited in the L.S. Peery Education Building at the Ogden Nature Center—starting on Earth Day, April 22—through May 12, 2017. Prizes will be awarded.
