Now, in addition to the 5k, half marathon, relay, and full marathon options for runners, cyclists will also have a way to engage—and it’s just what you’ve always wanted: a ride through the scenic Ogden Canyon. After 16 years of running the course, the team over at Get Out And Live, has added a bike race to the event line-up for the Ogden Marathon. “Cyclists have been asking for years,” said GOAL Foundation Executive Director Jenny Scothern, “They want to ride the canyon because it’s one of the only times the road is closed. We were able to figure out logistics to add a secure ride to the marathon event and we are giving it a go this year.” The Canyon Bike Ride is a non-competitive event and no official times will be given; however, a timing clock at the finish line will show elapsed time. The course is 14.4 miles and has cutoff times for riders (participants need to maintain an average speed of 15 mph to meet these cutoff times). Space is incredibly limited so the GOAL Foundation is encouraging interested cyclists to register immediately. Finishers will receive a participant shirt and can partake in the infamous finish-line PBR OGDEN MARATHON cont. on page 13 A stolen car that had been dumped in Pineview Reservoir last fall, surfaced, breaking through the ice March 9.
