He has designed a Christmas card for the past two years using family members to portray a Christmas theme. He is currently working on a Biblical theme using members of his family to portray the characters. JR states that, all together, he has painted at least 65 portraits of family and some extended family members. The Huntsville artist also says that he likes to paint portraits of cows, bulls, horses, dogs, cats, birds, and even fish. He paints whatever people want to hang on their walls. He relates that he even did a portrait for a young lady of her with her fiancé. “It was intended for their wedding reception, but they broke up shortly afterwards. I never asked why, but I hope it wasn’t the portrait that caused it!” JR and his wife have spent nearly five years in Africa as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though he was busy at the time, he says that he still found time to paint. He concludes, “Custom-painted pastel portraits are a wonderful piece of furniture for every home or office. They make wonderful gifts for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings and wedding receptions, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and even funerals.” For more information about JR and his work, you can contact him at 385-244-7027.
