Couple in Need of Support We are reaching out to the community and anyone touched by this or a similar tragedy, asking you to step forward and donate. This hardworking family could use a helping hand with high incurred medical bills. Huong Le and Derek Roberts lovingly anticipated the arrival of their bundle of joy. Huong Le is a kindergarten teacher in the Ogden School District, and Derek works at our own Ogden Valley Maverik. Huong Le was 34 weeks pregnant when complications occurred. An emergency caesarian section was performed and Maggie Le Roberts was born April 15, 2011. Unfortunately, this brand new precious baby girl was born without a heartbeat. Desperately and miraculously, the doctor and nurses were able to revive the little miracle. Sadly, Maggie is diagnosed with 80% hypoxic brain dysfunction occurring from lack of oxygen to the brain. Derek Roberts, father and loving partner to Huong Le for seven years, had to drive to two separate hospitals because Maggie was transferred. Despite this heartbreaking scenario, Derek maintains his work schedule—the graveyard shift at the Maverik here in Eden. Derek has never asked for anything. Kyle Goodwin, a co-worker and friend to Derek, has stepped forward to start a donation campaign for this family. An account has been set up at Zions Bank under “Derek Roberts Donation,” which can now accept all forms of donations. A Facebook page has been set up with the same name, and donation cans are in the process of being taken around to various businesses. Please open your hearts and help give this family some relief. Help be a part of making miracles happen.
