This interesting exhibit also features hand carved statues and curios from Indonesia. Joe Dixon is a retired history professor turned printmaker. He has studied with notable artists such as Moishe Smith, Sid Chafetz, Carol Summers, Giorgio Upghlio, and Susan Makov. For eight years he printed for Harry Taylor. His prints can be found in the collections of a very small, select group of connoisseurs. If you’d care to join their ranks, you can contact the Ogden Valley Branch Library staff for purchase information. The Value in Genes Exhibit - “The Value in Genes” is the thesis project of Jamie Reeve, a Visual Communication major at Weber State University. Her three-dimensional art project is based around race and ethnicity. Jamie artistically portrayed opinions expressed by WSU students via a cross sectional survey onto four denim-clad mannequins. The denim varies in color from light to dark. The word “Value,” as an art term, refers to the various ranges from light to dark. Its more common definition, referring to worth, also applies. It is her intention for this double meaning to be understood when viewing the exhibit, which will be on display at the Ogden Valley Branch through May 25, 2011.
