Show Page The Ogden Valley news Volume XV Issue I December 15, 2007 Announcements Births Kim Willard is pleased to announce the birth of her daughter M a k i n l e e W i l l a r d . Makinlee was born September 13, 2007. She came into the world weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 inches long. She is beautiful with long dark hair. Her Makinlee Willard grandparents are Paul and Connie Judd of Liberty. Missionaries Elder Zachary S. Loud will return home from serving in the Budapest H u n g a r y Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He is the son of Michael and Stephanie Loud of Liberty. He will speak on December Zachary Loud 30, 2007 at 2:50 p.m. at the Liberty 2nd Ward. After a short homecoming, he will return to finish his education at Brigham Young University. Birthdays Weddings Lindsay David Sylvester Lindsay celebrated his 80th birthday at an open house Saturday, November 24, at an LDS chapel in Syracuse. Born on November 27, 1927 to Alice Vivian Cheney and David Colon Lindsay, he was David Lindsay raised in Eden and graduated from Weber High School. He served in the U.S. Army and served an LDS mission to Southern California. He enrolled at Weber State College, where he met Marcia Saunders of Ogden. They were married November 4, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He received a degree from Brigham Young University in 1956, and accepted a job in Southern California where they resided until 1960. They were involved with a church youth group in California, forming treasured associations they still enjoy today. Upon returning to BYU, he received his teaching degree and taught at Clearfield High School for four years. He then accepted a position with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he worked until his retirement in 2000. They made their home in Layton for 40 years, moving to Syracuse in 2001. He is active in his church, and has held various positions. He has especially enjoyed teaching the youth. He is the father of five children (one is deceased): David J. Lindsay, Janette and Craig Hawkins, Kenneth and Paige Lindsay, and Julee and Waldo Trujillo. He has 14 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Chris and Pamela Eskelsen Klema-Eskelsen Pamela Rippon Klema and Chris LaMar Eskelsen were united in marriage on November 21 in Eden at the Red Moose Lodge. The ceremony was officiated by Bishop Alan Bowthorpe. The bride is the daughter of Gloria Rippon of Ogden and Faly Rippon of California. Parents of the bridegroom are LaMar and Kathy Eskelsen of Riverdale, and Carolynne and George Henderson of Liberty. The new couple will live in Washington Terrace. Cherry-Smith Breann Marie Cherry and Nicholas George Smith were united in marriage on November 10 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Breann and Nicholas Smith A reception was held in their honor at the University LDS 10th Ward in Ogden. The bride is the daughter of Jan Dowler of Washington and Earl and Michelle Cherry of Eden. She graduated from Fremont High School and is attending Weber State University. She is employed at South Ogden Family Medical Center. Parents of the bridegroom are John and Sherrie Schroen of Clearfield, and the late George L. Smith. He graduated from Clearfield High School and served in the California San Jose LDS Mission. He is employed at R.C. Willey Home Furnishings. The new couple will live in Ogden after their honeymoon to California. Obituaries Jeffery Lynn Archibald Jeffery Lynn Archibald, beloved husband, dad and grandpa, passed away December 1, 2007 at his home of an unexpected heart attack. Jeff was born April 12, 1949 in Ogden Utah to Lorenzo and Anna Rasmussen Archibald. Jeff grew up in Ogden Canyon and loved the outdoors, and hunting and fishing with his father and friends. He graduated from Weber High School in 1967. Jeff married Cathy Wade in 1968. From this union came three children; they later divorced. In November of 1980, Jeff married Murna Clements, they were later divorced. Jeff was employed for Precision Built Homes in Pleasant View where he was a foreman. Later, he worked for Chevy Chase Apartments in Riverdale as the complex manager until 1995. In November of 1995, Jeff married Patrice Moyes and moved to Layton. Jeff has been happily employed for the last several years as the Human Resource Director for SME Steel Contractors in West Jordan. He loved his job and the many friends and associations he made while working there, and he knew of the love that they had for him also. Jeff was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints.
