Email condolences ot the family at <www. lindquistmortuary.com> Howard Charles Woodfield H o w a r d C h a r l e s Woodfield, 90, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Beehive Homes Assisted Living Center of causes Howard Woodfield incident to age. He was born April 3, 1917 in North Ogden, Utah to John Aaron and Margaret May Chadwick Woodfield. On October 3, 1940, Howard married Emma Leila Martin in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 65 years before Emma preceded him in death on March 2, 2004. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in numerous positions and callings during his lifetime. Dad was born to be a farmer. He loved working the land, being outdoors, and anything to do with agriculture. He milked dairy cows and raised crops and beef cattle. He also served as master of the North Ogden Irrigation Canal and also managed the North Ogden Fruit Exchange where he was in charge of boxing and shipping fruit by train to various regions of the United States. At the time of his retirement he was the supervisor of grounds for Weber County School District. He had a green thumb, which produced many beautiful school grounds for Weber County. He took great pride in his own yard growing beautiful gardens and flowers. Surviving are his three children: Elaine (Brent) Story, Liberty; LaRae (Chuck) Crippen, North Ogden; Alan (Cherie) Woodfield, North Ogden; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Floyd J. Woodfield, St. George. Including his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Christensen and Vista Care Hospice, especially Amy and Christie, for their superior care of Dad. Email condolences to the family at <www.lindquistmortuary.com> Maxine Johnson Copps Facer Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on a beautiful spring morning, Sunday, April 29, 2007, after an extended illness and surrounded by Maxine Facer her loving family. Born and raised in Wilson Lane, Utah, she was the youngest of eight children of John and Idella Johnson. After graduating from Weber High School in 1942, Mom went to work at Hill Field. She was also employed at the Dairy Queen, Utah Tailoring Mills, L. R. Samuels, and the Weber School District. She married Robert G. “Bud” Copps in 1947. While together, they lived in Ogden where they raised their five children: Jeri, Janis, Robbie, Judy, and Richard. Mom married J. Paul Facer in 1964. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. Together they had one son, Joe, and soon after moved their entire family to Roy She touched the lives of countless children while working as a playground supervisor at Valley View Elementary. The interaction she had with the school kids was a highlight of her day for thirty years. She loved her children at Valley View and was saddened when her declining health forced her to retire in 2001. She never met a stranger; Mom had a smile for everyone, always referring to her friends as “Kid.” Mom was an active member of the Roy 16th Ward where she served in various callings including hosting, along with her husband Paul, at the Ogden Temple Visitor’s Center. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed keeping her daughters in the latest fashions using her trusty Necchi. Mom loved to have her hands in the earth and, along with Dad, kept one of the most beautiful yards in town. We will miss her homemade candies, cin- – PUBLIC NOTICE – Baseball, Soccer, Football, Lacrosse, & all other team sports participants, Eden Park is now scheduling the fields for these sports & all practice times for the summer season. Mom was a fabulous cook who especially loved caring for her grandchildren and baking cookies with them. She is survived by her husband Paul, children Jeri (Dean) Burgess, Janis (Lynn) Christopherson, Judy (Morten) Libekk, Richard (Paula) Copps, Joseph (Valisa) Facer, stepson James (Candis) Facer, daughter-in-law Norma Copps-Peters, sister Ruth Barton, 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Robert J Copps, three sisters, and three brothers. We would like to thank Mom’s many friends for their love and support, especially her dear friend Fusa Nakayu. A heartfelt thank you to Andrea, Courtney, Jill, and Miller of Alpine Hospice for all their loving care. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Roy 16th Ward, 4524 S. 2525 W., Roy. Dickson Y v o n n e Loraine Burmeister Dickson, 82, died peacefully with her family by her side Monday, April 30, 2007 at McKayDee Hospital of causes incident to a stroke. She was Yvonne Dickson born June 8, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of Clarence Frederick and Ida Mae Hayworth Burmeister. On June 8, 1946, Yvonne married her eternal companion Thomas Oran Dickson in Sierra Madre, California. The marriage was solemnized on May 26, 1950 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. He preceded her in death November 3, 1999. Yvonne was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many callings in the Young Women’s, Relief Society, and Primary. Her favorite calling was as a director of Road Shows. Her talents in co-authoring and directing many Road Shows was recognized with numerous awards and many of her plays were produced in schools and independent stages throughout Southern California. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family first. She was the ultimate hostess and enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Participating in family activities was central to her life. She was an avid reader and loved to sew for her family and neighbors. She also loved volunteering and reading with the children at Valley Elementary School. Surviving are her son Thomas Oran (Claire) Dickson, Huntsville; two grandsons, James (Stephanie), Roy; and Dan (Ciera), Columbus, OH; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Jerry (Nadine) Burmeister, Moorehead, KY. Preceding Yvonne in death were her parents, husband, brother Bob, infant brother Clarence, and her sister Janice. Graveside services were held Saturday, May 2 at the Huntsville Cemetery. The family would like to express special thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff at McKay-Dee Hospital and Crestwood Care Center for their loving care of “Mom.” In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Middle Fork ward missionary fund. Email condolences to the family at <www. lindquistmortuary.com> Darlene Malan Patterson Darlene Malan Patterson, 82, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 at Logan Regional Hospital. Darlene Patterson She was born April 28, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Alton and Martha Clarke Malan. She grew up in Ogden and also lived in the bay area of California; Hyrum, Utah; and West Point, Utah. On June 10, 1942, Darlene married Rex E. Patterson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2000. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Primary, Relief Society, and as a visiting teacher. Darlene loved spending time and reminiscing with her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. She had a fantastic memory with respect to her family. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, collecting antiques, and beanie babies. Darlene is survived by her children—five sons, Gary (Georgia) Patterson, Centerville; Rex (Pat) Patterson, Lake Tahoe, CA; Ron (Chris) Patterson, West Point; Rick (Lisa) Patterson, Reno, NV; Randy (Midge) Patterson, Hyrum; two daughters, Judy (Mike) Henry, Hooper; Vickie (Mike) Romero, Newark, CA; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one greatgreat-grandchild; two brothers, Dean (Donnet) Malan, Eden; Jerry (Pat) Malan, Mt. Green; and one sister, Launa (Jimmy) Lewis, Eden. Including her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Brent Patterson. Armistead Patricia Ruth Armistead, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 from a sudden brain aneurism. Patty Spilker was born December 8, 1941, and lived in Nebraska, primarily Lincoln, until she graduated from the University of Nebraska. She moved to California to teach school where she met David Kirk Armistead. After their marriage, Dave’s job took them to North Dakota. Dave and Patty continued jobrelated moves over 15 times eventually ending up in Utah where they have lived for the last 34 years. In Utah they lived in North Ogden, OBITUARIES cont. on page 9 |
