Let- On Sunday morning, May 14, 2006—Mother’s Day—I 8 year old Marek Mitchell was involved in a terrible car accident on Highway 39 near Trapper’s Loop road. Marek was due to graduate from Weber High School on May 23, along with his many good friends, but was unable to “take the walk.” Instead, his younger brsilat A.J. was allowed to walk in his place thanks to approval from school administrators. As aresult of the accident, Marek suffers from severe traumatic brain injury but recovery is going much faster than expected. He spent many days in ICU, some under an induced coma. He is now, three weeks later, in a rehab unit eating with little assistance, having short visits with friends and family, and taking his first steps. The recovery time will be 12 to 15 months according to his father Mark—much of it in the future under 24 hour care at home. His mother Bridget is back at work keeping finances in order, but costs are expected to be very heavy due to the extensive rehabilitation process. Mark is self-employed and has had to put his business on hold for now to become Marek’s primary care giver. Insurance is limited and we want to help. Friends and family have joined together on the Mitchell’s behalf to set up an account to accept donations to assist with Marek’s recovery. Kay Larrison, Huntsville pool safety for unauthorized guests As a property management and lodging provider for businesses in Ogden Valley, it is our goal that every visitor has a safe and memorable vacation experience. One of our most utilized amenities during the summer months are swimming pools. These pools area available to our guests and the ownRecently, we have had problems with trespassers jumping the fence after hours and swimming in the pools. These pools are covered nightly and could be a real safety hazard to whoever decides to pull back the cover and take a swim, especially if pool maintenance chemicals have recently been added. With that said, we want the public to know that what might be perceived as harmless fun, could turn out to be a devastating incident. In order to maintain the safety of our guests, invited or uninvited, we have asked for assistance from our local law enforcement agency. They will be patrolling the pools hourly each night and issuing cita tions to violators. If caught, violators may be prosecuted. Summer is in full swing and we want it to be great for our guests as well as our neighbors. Help us make it a safe season; stay out of the pools after hours!
