Show Volume X THE Issue VII OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 3 July 15, 2004 UDOT Letters to the Editor High Sierra Valley Shoot Out a Success Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the extreme pleasure of working with some wonderful people on the local soccer tournament for AYSO. It was held these past four days and appears to have been a success. The volunteer hours put toward this tournament are massive, and the results all go back into the organization for the benefit of the youth in our area for the great sport of soccer. Congratulations LeiLani Gauchat for putting together a great experience for hundreds of soccer players and volunteers like me. It was a great time working with fun, well trained people toward a goal of raising funds for future player uniforms, soccer nets and goals, and training for coaches and referees. While traffic congestion may disrupt residents, it’s a small inconvenience considering this benefits our neighbors and other residents of Ogden Valley directly rather than organizations outside the area. This year’s tournament was dedicated in memory of one soccer player who died this past year, Sierra Froerer. She was a bright, active girl who played soccer in the region and is missed by many. AYSO should be commended for acknowledging her passing by naming the tournament the “High Sierra Valley Shoot Out.” Again, thank you LeiLani and many others for a wonderful time.
