Show September 21, 2001 The Summit County Bee PieBl 'EC 0EC Congratulations ladies! On Wednesday, it was our pajama day. We had an assembly this day for the student body that ended up being very entertaining, with a balloon popping contest and a excellent quartet of singers from all four classes at NS. Our JV Football and Freshman teams traveled to Manti to play the Templars and were defeated in Lip Sync Contest winners: Tommy Stewart and Jeff Broad bent offering their rendition of Tim McGraws Broken". Student Writers: Natalie Dearden and Emilee Stephens On Tuesday, we dressed up like our dad for the day. The Homecoming at NSHS was a fun packed week. Monday the students dressed up as their favorite Soda Pop". We had a fun assembly including a pop guzzling contest. April Gardner of the Junior class took the competition easily. The drill team and cheerleaders did a Pepsi commercial dance. Homecoming Royalty assembly took place. Our Homecoming Royalty for 2001 is: second atten- -' dant. Ashlie Wilson and Colby Foust, first attendant. Corey Ann and James Blonquist Shupe, Homecoming King and Queen, Crystal Orgill and Jonathan Peck. The Lady Braves played Juan Diego at home and won all three games. exciting games. Thursday was one of the funnest days of Homecoming week because we got to dress as our favorite pop star. We also had an assembly during the day with a Lip Sync contest. The winners were Tommy Stuart and Jeff Broad bent: Later that night the Lady Braves fought Manila at home. We played hard but lost a good game. Following the game was the bonfire and pep rally. Friday ended the week with a bang. We dressed in our school colors, Purple and Gold. The parade on Main Street was a blast, and people flocked to the Football Field for the Game Football Homecoming against the templars. We lost a hard fought battle to the Templars with the ending score 3 to 19. Saturday, the 15th, was our semi formal, girls choice dance which was held on the balcony at North Summit High School. The contestants consisted of eight senior girls and eight senior boys that were voted in oy the student-body. They were as follows: Alisa Butt. Jake Adkins, Corey Ann Blonquist. Nick Bagnell, Megan Judd, Dustin Three Sweep Juan Diego Student W'riter: Lisa Ferry Student Writer: Jace Ovard Sept. 15. the Murray Invitational was held and all the North Summit runners improved there times for this year. The top twenty runners out ef I A through 5A were awarded metals. Johnny Rodriguez placed second over all with a time of 17:42 and received a metal. Brett Evens ran a time of 2 1 :53, Jonathan Snyder had a time of 19:29 and Chad Harper ran a time of 19:45. In the Girls varsity race Kristin Snyder ran a record time of 21:03 and Lisa Ferry also improved her time and ran a 24:48. On Tuesday Sept. II, the Lady Braves hosted Juan Diego. It was the start of Homecoming Week and the Lady Braves were ready to start things off right. To start the night off, the Freshman won in two games. Then it was the JVs turn. They were pumped up and ready to play. The whole team stepped up to the challenge and all played really well, they won in two games. It was the Varsitys second Region game and they were hungry for a win. The Braves did not mess around from the start they all gave great efforts and it paid off, they won the first match 15-Playing off the energy from the first match, the Lady Braves came out for the second match even more fired up. They showed no mercy to the Eagles, and went on to win 15-Carrie Rognan, and Mindi Gentry Sargent, Rasmussen all played very well. The Lady Braves brought more spirit to homecoming by beating Juan Diego. We all hope the Lady Braves keep 7. 4. playing well! Assemblies, car bash, volleyball games, a parade, and' finally the I The girls then showed their acting talents by putting on a hilarious skit tilled The Cliff'. Fuch contestant also had to go through an interview with the judges. The winneis were announced at the end of the school day; King and Queen Jonathan Peck and Crystal Orgill, First Attendants James Shupe and Corey Ann Blonquist. and Second Attendants Colby Foust and Ashlie Wilson. Ashlie Wilson, and James Shupe. Each contestant participated in a creative skit or talent. The boys gave an entertaining mini concert where they sang a love song to Mrs. Marsh, a faculty 3. ' football game. The Braves started the game out by driving down the field and Finishing the drive off with a field goal by Whitney Sargent. The Braves jumped out to an early lead but their lead did not last very long, as Manti marched right back down the field and scored on a 28 yard pass. The Braves had several long drives but were unable to get it in the end zone. Coming out in the third quarter the Braves did stop the Manti offense and got the ball starting in their own territory. The Brave offense began moving the hall down the field with strong runs by Carlsen, Shupe. and Downard. But the Braves fell short of a touchdown and turned the ball over once again. Turnovers and weak defense marked the fourth quarter for the Braves. The final score Manti 19 North Summit 3.
