Shcrr)l liecn for accepting the responsibility of South Summit Senior Citizens keeping our center neat and clean. Thanks to each of you for doing your part along those lines. The band members are grateful to CindwMcCicellce for making their practice session possible. Cindy filled in for Beulah Willoughby, our faithful pianist. Beulah couldn't he here and she wasn't one hit happy about having to miss coming. We miss her too and we miss Betty Wilde who is being treated for bleeding ulcers. Betty is feeling a little better hut not real peiky yet. We also miss Delia Griffith who still isn't feeling quite up to par but we're hoping they'll he well and with us real soon. Our Catnperworld friends are as always a friendly addition. This week, we welcomed Darlene and Dean Wilson, Merge and Demont Call, Val and Margaret Chatwin and Thelma and R.L. Wcndrich. Our officers and board members will with be Ted meeting Livingston, of Mountainlands, and our Director, Julie Pace in Park City, on Sept. 18. Our combined county clubs autumn event is in October. I'm not sure of the date so keep your social calendars open. We had the sad news that our friend, Helen Chappell, has finished her mission here on earth and has returned to her heavenly home. We know many lives have been touched by knowing her and she will be missed. We send our sympathies to her husband Dcrrald and her family. Renee Robinson and I paid a short visit to Jane Wright at the care center in Heher City. I can't say Jane is doing well, only that she is getting good care. Emerson Staples sends his greetings to all. Please remember all our friends and our country in Senior Citizens and pray for the best. Our Center was pretty quiet as we watched the events unfold and joined in with Friday's prayer services on TV. meeting at City hall on Monday night was attended by an overflowing group of citizens. We are advised to attend the. meetings and let our concerns be voiced. Why? It was apparent that percentage was opposed to the redevelopment plan and the annexation, at least until the questions asked could be answered, not by evasive answers but with real, concrete answers. It was also apparent, at least to me, personally, that the decisions were already decided before the public meeting. The meeting was probably held only' because it is required by law. It appears that the old saying is true. Politicians are like baby's diapers, they both need to be changed often and for the same reason. Remember that when you vine in November. We Senior citizens have seen many changes in our lifetime. Some good, some bad. and we surely will be seeing more but we will roll w ith the punches, go on with our lives, refuse to live in fear and trust in the Lord that things will be okay. Now on to happier items. I want you to meet our smiling cook, Trixie Oldham, pictured here with her young daughter, Katylynn. Trixie is taking care of us pretty good and we thank her for that. We also thank one The-publi- c Trixie and Katylynn Oldham. BY LOUISE WALLACE What a terrible, frightening week this has been for us and all of America. Words can't begin to express our feelings. Old fears come back to life, questions that can't, be ' answered once again. When will it end? What is going to happen now? Is the terrorist attack over? Will there be another war? How many have died? How many more will? What about the Olympics? And the questions go on and on. One thing we know is that life in America and the freedoms we take for granted are more precious today than we realized. We can only hope ce Park City Community Clinic Clinic a The Park family is planning Gty Community and reproductive health program. Keep your hopes up and the flags flying. that Mother Nature has been busy robing the hillsides in a splendid array of Fall color. These tluiigs heighten our appreciation for beauty and goodness, reminding us there is a power far greater than any on earth watching over us all. It is comforting to know that in the face of adversity, everything is in the hands of our Creator and will be addressed in His wisdom and true justice. Lite so many in the world, we mourn the loss of our fellow Americans and grieve with their loved ones. Marcene Littledike was at the Center taking blood pressures. Wc always appreciate her service and the smiles she brings w ith her. I sat for a moment with the ladies in the sewing circle and noticed Ora what was Chapman making be to red. of out appeared polholdcrs white and green yarn. I asked if she was getting yn early start on Christmas which is a very smart idea. Glennis Phelps said she has given away all of her Christmas decorations and I asked her if she was the Grinch. Varena Lambert was enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the atmosphere with closed eyes when Henry Nygaard walked over and said he was just checking to see if we were alive. Stick around. Henry, we just aren't wound up yet! Wanda Chamberlain was looking pretty in pink as we all admired her beautiful shirt and matching tee adorned with flowers and butterflies. When she turned, there 'was even an embroidered butterfly on her left shoulder. I was impressed with the perfectly stitched lavender ciiclcs around each and every buttonhole. Wanda told us the shirt came from Honda. Trust Edna Atkinson to get things going. I sat down to enjoy a game of Skipbo with Gussic Prescott, Beth Casper and Kathryn Prescott when I overheard Edna saying something about a bottle... a headache and next day". up the waking Quizzically. I asked Edna if she's been hitting the bottle and she laughed telling me that when she was younger, she told Verle Dugdale that if she got married, I'll. get drunker than a skunk. She did, and she did! We were sure glad to see La Win Brusnahan and Murlin Van Tassell out to ditie with us. I keep thinking were getting new people and I'm told I need to come more often because they've been here when I'm not. I told them that I liked to keep my appearances a surprise because if everyone knew when I was coming, some of them might stay away! Well, anyway, it's always good to see new faces. The county is providing a free, yes I said free Health Screening Clinic right here at our Center, between 10 a.m. and 7 pm. Doctots and nurses will be there to run tests and answer any questions. 1 was excited to see one of my favorite people at church this past Sunday. Iis been over a year since I've seen Thelma Stevens. Thelma said she's really enjoying the care her two daughters Betty and Doris are giving her. She also reports that she is completely free of any aches and pains and that her feet are doing great. Ill have to admit that she looks really good. Thelma said her home is even getting some interior work done that has been needed for some time now. In the midst sf all of our aches and pains, poor eyesight and muffled hearing, we have mi much to be grateful for in contrast to the tragedies in the East. Sometimes, it takes events like these to slow us down and consider, then focus on our many blessings. Seems as if the sky is a little bluer this week, the clouds whiter and fluffier the colors of the Fall season even richer and more vivid. I've always given thanks each day for eyes that see the beauty in things and ears that can hear laughter. Ah, yes, God bless America! May we be responsible for bringing laughter and joy into each and every day so life will rich with vibrancy and purpose. -- Fricoy 630 am -- 5fi0prr SofunJny Apportmeret AnaSatte j Leslie Webster.
