A student's success is simply a matter ot finding that power and putting it to work. I he Nuhonal FFA is a proactive airgjnizalmn that encourages and assists students in discovering the power they possess. Agricultural education, a supervised agricultural experience and FFA form a solid Inundation for students to develop leadership skills, global agricultural knowledge and practical experience needed to succeed in their careers and everyday life. National FFA adv isor Dr. Larry D. Case says that "ITA takes classroom knowledge and brings it to life and provides many opportunities for members to develop leadership skills and positive values." Dressed in their familiar blue and gold jackets. FFA members are popularly associated with raisin animals or growing crops. Esonas Season Comes To an End Student Writer: Chellsev Sargent The I.Mtnas have had an outstanding year competing in four competitions and bringing home many awards and a team lull of smiles. The team has also performed at all football and basketball home games during half time to show oft their great dancing abilities. The North Summit I sonas held '.heir annual review night on Feh 1 3. The girls performed all dances they have learned throughout the season including a coed dance. Feb. 17-2- 4. National FFA Week is held each year during the week of George Washington's birthday to recognize his leadership and commitment to American agriculture. FFA This year's theme, Discover the Power, illustrates how. scary as South Summit took the lead. Into the second quarter the Braves took their lead. They fought hard to maintain their slim lead and continued to stay ahead. Jordan Richins stuffed a player from South Summit and sent the crowd cheering. Jesse Calder had a impressive with only two minutes in the half. At half time remaining in favor of the score was 36-2- 6 North Summit. The second half of the game started great and the Braves continued to score and have great defense. South Summit was playing tough man to man defense, trying to prevent further scoring. Adam Brown had his Finger dislocated in an attempt at a rebound, which put him out for the remainder of the game. Craig Louder was fouled hard and received a chance at two points. W'ith three minutes remaining, the score was becoming closer with only four points separating the teams them. With only 18 seconds remaining there was only a one point difference in score. Kollin Garfield was fouled and missed his one shot. South Summit ran down the court and had two shot attempts before the Final buzzer rang. Final score, 33-3- 2 in favor of the Braves. three-point- FFA's programs allow students the opportunity to apply classroom information to reallife situations. Local, state and national programs provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. Lady Braves Fall Short Student Writer: Kristin Williams The Lady Braves battled the South Summit Lady Cats on Thursday night, Feb. 13, in Kamas. The varsity girls struggled defensively throughout the game, hut managed to score 46 points, which just wasn't enough to overcome South Summit. The ending score was 46 to 66. The posts led the game offensively, with Crystal Robinson scoring 12 points, Whitney Peck with 11. and 10 for Lyndsay Kirkham. The JV team struggled the First half, but had an incredible fourth quarter, where they outscored the entire previous three quarters. Their late start wasn't enough to overcome South Summit, their ending score was 27 to 62. The freshmen team also suffered a disappointing loss by only four points.
