Show Wildcats Battle The SS Ladycafs Beat Student Writer: Amber Rydalth Student Writer: JuliAnne Lake Feb. 8. the Grantsville Cowgirls traveled to South Summit. The Ladycats proved that they were ready fur the challenge of playing against the Cowgirls. The freshman proved that they were really to play. At the end of the First quarter. South Summit score was double that of Grantsville. The next two quarters the Ladycats held the Cowgirls to only 3 points. The Final score of the game was South Summit Ladycats 42 and the Cowgirls 22. The high scorer of the game was Crystal Tresner with 17 On The Wildcats were looking forward to a win against Rowland Hall on Feb. 2 before the game. They wanted to win to lift their spirits after their disappointing loss against the North Summit Braves the week before. The Wildcats were not able to come out on top with the win that they had anticipated. The Final score was Wildcats 47, and Rowland Hall 60. The Ladycats defense was hard to beat in the second quarter. They held the Cowgirls to only 2 points. Many other people were glad because it saved them a lot of money. There was a game that night so the drill team, cheerleaders, and the teams may have missed out on some fun because they had to stay in the valley. There were pictures for $ 14 or $ 8 and they were taken by Ryno Imaging. Music was provided by Charlie Jarvis. All in all it was a fun 1 dance. We had a gtxxl turnout and a lot of people were happy. It's not very often that girls get to cluxise their dates and pay for everything. I'm sure most of the guys 'were happy that they got free dinner, and lots of fun. The South Summit team knew that they had to play there hardest to get the job done. Killing, the l.ions was (lie Cats goal and they determined to achieve. The only way to keep up their great region record was to play the best and win. The night started out with the freshmensophomore team, which is coached by Courtney C'rnich. The First quarter was a little slow with the score 7 to 6 for the Ladycats. The Ladycats knew that they needed to dominate, so they got aggressive throughout the second half. The team played awesome and Finally came out with a win. The Final score was 33 to 17 for the Ladycats. The high scorer for the game was Stephanie Dees with 9 points. Following right behind with 7 points were Krisde Wilson and only scoring 18 points and letting the Cowgirls to score 20 points in the last tw o quarters. The Final score of the game was SS 38. Grantsville 30. Sara Parker was high scorer of the JV game with 1 points. the game Varsity During Grantsville proved that they were not a challenge to the Ladycats. At the end of the first half, SS was 29 while Grantsville had only scored 14 points. Sara Parker had 3, three pointers in the second quarier. After were the Ladycats halftime, in 17 scored and points the pumped, third quarter while holding, the Cowgirls to only 4 points. The Ladycats defense was working hard. This night was no exception. The night started out with the freshman and junior varsity The First quarter didn't start out to well as the Iadycat were behind by 8 points. They were very aggressive during the second quarter and were only at half time. The high scorer for the game was leah Tapp with 20 points, and Natalie Marchant followed behind her with Crystal Tresner. The team as a whole was very aggressive and played awesome. Now it was the JV ladycats turn to trounce the Lions. The team was pumped and ready to play ladycat baskethall. The First halt was very aggressive and the team was ahead w ith score of 24 to 1 3. IXiminating the floor, the ladycats were showing the Lions what they were made of. The team all contributed to the great victory for the ladycats. Die final score for the game was 33 to 23. The ladycats killed the Lions, and the high scorer for the game was Michelle Marchant with 14 points. The ladycats were coached well by Brittani Mitchell and played great as a team. Finally it was the Varsity ladycats turn to slaughter the L.ions. Everyone on the team played great, and now the ladycats our now ready to defeat their next opponent! Ladycats Kill The Soaring Eagles! Student Writer: Jade Atkinson Tuesday. Feb. 6, the South Summit Ladycats played the Juan Diego Soaring Eagle at Juan Diego. The freshmen started it off with a great game. They defeated the 36-3Stephanie rough for the Cats and they allowed Soaring Eagle Decs top scorer with 10 points and the Braves to gain a lead of about ten Tresner with 8 points. points. Now it was the varsities turn. They came on (he floor ready to play. It was a great game and everyone did their part. Top scorers were Ashley Simpson with 19. Sara Parker added 10; Leah Tapp dumped in 8. both Natalie Marchant and Rachel McNeil had 6, and Hrilni Woodard had 3. On top of all that scoring, they played great defense. Slate at and and Region. your games FFA Chapter Competed in The Area Contest Subscribe To The Summit County Bee iiiaMiMjiiiasnu COMING SOON On Feb. 7, four members of the South Summit FFA Chapter competed in the Area Contest held at North Summit. FFA students from seven different schools came to the contest and represented their chapters by participating in the different contests. From the South Summit Chapter 'Lacy Siddoway competed in the Public Speaking Extemporary Contest, which consisted of drawing out a topic, a preparation time and giving a 4-- 6 minute speech on the topic. She drew out the topic The future of organic food". Kate Rumsey competed in the Prepared Public Speaking Contest. This consisted of giving a prepared 68 minute speech on any topic in Agriculture or the FFA. She choose the topic "The FFA Officers". Heather Tompkins and Zach Blazzard competed against many other students in the Creed Speaking te STOP KARATE CLUB Contest. Which is ftr first year students, every school may have two contestants. They arc to recite the FFA Creed from memory and also answer 3 minutes of questions about the creed to a panel of judges. Heather placed third in the contest. The lop two winners move on to state, so she barely missed it. Every student is to complete a proficiency award application. The applications are about members FTA Project and what they have accomplished. The applications are sent to the state to he judged against other Utah FFA memhers.
