They were planning on participating in the Old Capitol Invitational. The girls did a great job. Kristin Snyder placed fourth and Valerie Snyder placed fifth in the 3.2(X) meter run. AS' -- KK On Saturday, April 14, the track team traveled to Gunnison for the Gunnison Invitational Track Meet. North Summit has been doing very well this year in track and are very high contenders to take the Slate Title 2 years in a row. Many of North Summits track team members have already been qualified and many continue to qualify. Best of luck to the Braves and keep running hard! And The Rain Came Down Student Writer: Kirk Rehfield The rain was coming down in large chunks, soaking the North Summit Braves' home baseball field to the bone. The word on the street was that the games scheduled to he played would be canceled. Roger quickly. Thinking Crittenden, the baseball head coach, telephoned the Gunnison Bulldogs coach and the game was moved to Ncphi. After a long bus ride, the Braves warily took the field. Ryan DcJong was the starting pitcher for the Braves and pitched great in (he first half of Ihc game. In the first inning the bulldogs look the lead 2 to 0. They scored one mine run in the second making the score 3 to 0. Beyond Expectations! In the third inning the Braves knocked in two runs just trailing Gunnison 4 to 2. In the fifth the Bulldogs catching up to Ryan DcJong scored twelve more runs all on hits. North Summit was unable to score again and was ten run ruled. The final score for the first game was Gunnison 16 North Summit 2. The second game was almost a mirror image of the first. Kevin Irauder was the starting pitcher. The Bulldogs were on Kevin from the very first. By the fourth inning the Bulldogs were leading N.S. 10 to 0. The Braves, needing a change, decided to pitch Kollin Garfield. It was the change they needed. Kollin Garfield pitched three more innings and not one run was scored. The Braves came hack with three runs, but three wasn't enough and N.S. lost to Gunnison 3 to 10. Both the hoys und the girls teams did really well. the girls in the high jump Jackie Rees made it to the finals where she cleared 4'5. In the long jump McKenna Sargent advanced to the finals and jumped 136". Bridgctte Willoughby qualified for the finals in the javelin and threw 67" 1 1 Whitney peck qualified for the finals in the l(X) meter dash. In the. finals she ran a 13.24 and received first place. For the hoys Kyle Jones advanced to the finals in the discus and took second place with a throw of 1249.
