South Summit Llemcntary School's students and staff honored local veterans at a special Veterans Day assembly held Thursday. Nov. II. Patriotic music quieted the enthusiastic students before the colors were posted by local community members adorned in their respective uniforms. Then, the angelic little voices joined together in song. Bantam Football Team The South S'lmmil Flighth Grade Bantams FixHtall leant ended their regular league play with a fierfect 6-- 0 record. This put them in first place in the National League division 2 playoffs. For the first round in the playoffs. South Summit traveled to Qrantsville to play the fourth place Grjntsville Cow boys. After a slow start in tire first half, S.S. came out he second half to dominate and heat the Cowboys 22-This put them in the championship game in the National Ixague division 2. The game was played against ll second place Granger lancers on their own field in Granger. This was a hard fought game by both teams. 8. Big Winners However S.S. prevailed once again with the final score 10--6 for the wildcats! Being, the Champions of the National League Division 2 meant S.S. would play the Champions of the National League Ml Division for the title. That team was the Judge Memorial Bulldogs with llic game being played at Rivervicw Jr. High in Murray. The Wildcats ended half with a score of 12-1- Throughout the assembly students paid tribute to those who bravely fought for peace, by singing a medley of war-tinsongs. "...The land of the free and the home of the brave." they sang as only the young can. It brought tears to the eyes (d many of those in attendance. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes."
