This week the Summit County Pet of the Week fat this very friendly white rat. lie was found in Deer Valley so he probably has expensive tastes but we feel that he could adjust and would make a great pet for a responsible child. He would also make a great classroom pet for any teachers who might he interested. He seems to he well cared for and is easily handled. He is animal 24K6...xome on, we know you want him. In our dog department, we have a sweet lahchow mix. He is neutered and ready to go to a new home, lie is animal 2452. Also available is a male collie mix 2478. In the cat department, we have a lovable black and white cat 2409, an orange and white female cat 1390, two female Siamese mixes 2488 & 2489, two small male black and white kit tens 2491 & 2492, and a female turtoise shell 2421. Despite the current weather, winter is on its way and pet owners need to take special care that their pets can stay warm and dry. The Summit County Animal Control Ordinance requires that all dogs have fresh (unfrozen) water available at all times. This is because a dehydrated animal will not be able to combat the cold easily. Also, dogs are required to have shelter available at all times. This is required for all breeds, even the heartiest northern breeds. Breeds that have short hair and very little body fat, such as whippets, should not be left outside for extended periods of time. Ise common sense when it comes to leaving your pet outside and keep in mind that even though the daytime weather has been fair in recent weeks, the nighttime temperatures still drop into the below freezing ranges. CitfZGIIS Serenity Ranch had a million and one things to do but still took time out to come and take blood pressures for us on Wednesday. Thanks, BY LOUISE WALLACE This report is going to be a bit on the short side because you see, I am awfully busy. A bunch of us will be leaving the center at no later than 7 a.m. Sunday fur our trip to Laughlin. That means I need to do all my packing tonight cause as slow as 1 am getting, it will be all I can do to get myself ready and over there on time. I sure would hate to be the one that kept the bus from leaving on lime. Probably never hear the end of it. We hope we have good weather and a safe trip and hope the snow don't fall to high on the folks at home. The week was moving along real smoothly until we heard the sad news of the death of Zachcry Mortensen, the grandson of our friends, Janice and Mcrlyn Johnson. Some of us just couldn't hold back the tears as we realized the hurts his family is going through. We do send our sympathies to them. President Shirley Phelps was back at the helm this week and we were happy to have her husband. George back on Friday. Glad that he is pretty well recuperated from his bout with the bronchitis. It will take lime to gel rid of the nagging cough though. 1 haven't heard how Kelly Wilde is doing since having hip surgery on Monday. Sure hope he gets well fast and I bet the fish are sighing with relief while he hasn't been able to dangle the bait to them. Abhie R.N. from Bakaric, Abbie. Thanksgiving is coming up and need to be mindful of our friends that are home bound. Elsie McClay writes: I'm lonely. I'm lonely, but I don't dare say so. My friends and relatives fret enough as is. They don't want me to live alone. They keep saying, aren't you lonely? And I keep saying no. Because I'm not lonely in the way they mean. I'm lonely for people who were and are no more. I'm lonely for one person most of , we all. I'm lonely fur the ways things were. While the children were little and depended on me. I miss their need. I miss being at the center of life instead of out here on the edge. Going to live with one of the children, going into a home, is no answer to my kind of loneliness. But I am blessed because I can always call on God and thank heaven I still have friends to talk to. Thank you, God for letting me stay in my own home. Remember we are having our Thanksgiving dinner at the Center on Friday, the 19th. That's today. Come on out and we will tell you all about our luck hope it's all good.
