Citizens will board the Heber Valley Railroad Oct. 23 for the second annual Tate Bam Train Ride. The railroad, in cooperation with Friends of Wasatch Mountain State Park, is providing the train as part of g effort to save the a aging structure. All proceeds from the railroad excursion will go directly into the barn's restoration profund-raisin- ject The train, pulled by steam locomotive No. 618, will depart the Heber station at 3 p.m. for an hour and a half journey past the Tate Bam and Soldier 1 lollow, site for the 2002 W'inter Olympics. Passengers will be able to see the enormity of the project and the need to restive this symbol of the American West. During the ride, guests will hear a narration describing the history of the bam which was built by Francis Tate at the turn of the century for use as a dairy farm Also part of the excursion will Calendar of Events 22;199 :CZ include information about the venues to be held at Soldier Hollow, y site of skiing and the biathlon. Passengers will be able to visit with Olympic athletes to see the equipment they will be using. There will be a lunch served onboard and entertainment will be provided by Dave Hahn, an entertainer who regularly performs in Park City. Everyone who buys an adult ticket will have a chance at winning the grand prize which includes dinner and an overnight stay for two at The Homestead Resort, cross-countski rentals for two and a one hour lesson from an Olympic athlete plus a free pass to Wasatch Mountain State Park for a day of skiing and four free tickets to ride the Heber Valley Railroad. g Ticket prices for the event are $25 for adults.
